  1. Great job Dave. I hope the Tanks won't be working as the camp site seems to be in their way! :D

    I know everybody will check their air maps but, from personal experience, the Parachute drop zone at Hinton on the Hedges is very active most weekends and the aircraft 'run in' and take off will depend on wind direction on the day.

    Will you be speaking to the CCI or do you want me to help there?

    ps: perhaps we can start putting a map together with PMC available sites and contacts this year and get the events commitee to arrange some x country flights or am I a bit slow and it is already being done?.

  3. No problem Tim. It will be good to see you again. It is a very big field so I can't miss it. :D

    I will keep you up to date with the field and perhaps we can start a network of sites. Simons new site at Membury is under 30 miles from me.

    Perhaps there are others who will join the network!

    What you need is a friendly farmer as most of them have never heard of Health & Safety@ :D

    Don't let these people put you off, they are always going to be a bit of a pain in public places.

  5. Shabbington is not available at the moment due to the field being used for growing grass for sillage.

    Stephen is happy for us to use it as last year but we will not be able to fly from there for another 3-4 weeks when the grass is cut. After that we have it back.

    I have not discussed money yet but I expect it to be the same as last year.

    I will keep you informed, meanwhile we need somewhere else to fly in this nice weather.

    Any ideas?

    Sorry I didn't reply Saturday but you would be better off ringing or texting me as I am not at the computer at the weekend.

    Weather didn't play ball anyway and I was at Wembley for the cup final.

    Not sure what the situation is with the field at the moment and if we can use the bottom meadow but I will ring Stephen and let you know nearer the weekend as there is High pressure coming in and the weekend is looking 'hopeful'.

    If not, then we can pop down and annoy SW :D

    If the weather is ok next weekend I will bring a felt tip marker and a litre measure to mark your tank and supply you with a mirror.

    We can then stick 5 litres in the tank and you can see how long you can stay up for.

    It will give us a better idea on your flying time.

    You will need a good idea (and a way to check your tank) for your France trip.

    If your tank is still empty from Sunday don't put any fuel in to make it more accurate.

    I am sure you will love the sport. You can 'surf' a long way on a paramotor wing due to the incredible amount of lift you get compared to our skydiving canopies (although a lot slower!)

    It takes a bit of getting used to the very late flare though!

    I think that if you ask yourself the question 'would I have sold a Bluetrack to a new student' you will be able to make the comparison.

  10. I have been staying away from commenting on this post as an ex-skydiver but as my name has been mentioned by Simon I felt that I had to make a comment!

    I started skydiving in the days when we had 5 cell docile canopies progressed through 9 cell canopies onto zero p and elliptical canopies (blue track) and on to the jonathans etc. When these fast, small canopies came out the responsible companies wouldn't even sell you one unless you had 2000 jumps!

    I have, unfortunately, witnessed a friend dying at Hibaldstow trying a swoop (peer pressure) and a good friend died last year trying to deal with an issue on a radical wing and screwed up (he had 4000 jumps).

    Paramotoring is a completely different sport and if you want to do swoops and 'ditch flying etc this is not the sport to take up.

    It is almost impossible to collapse a skydiving canopy nowadays due to the size, wing loadings and design.

    It is not the same with the comparatively large wings we use in paramotoring.

    I fly a Revolution and love the way it flys and handles but feel that I am going to be in a learning process for many, many hours yet before thinking of going anywhere near a Fusion.

    I can't advise you what to do as this is your choice but I think that the advise you are getting from others on the forum is well founded and well intentioned and thinking only of your safety.

    I feel that you would get a lot more from the learning process on a more stable wing than the Fusion.

    At least start your training on a more stable wing, speak to SimonW if you need any training advise or information.

  11. Hi Mike

    I fly a Revo with a PAP and I have to admit that the in slow trim the straps are very long and can flap about a bit.

    However, I am the same weight as you and I have the wing attached to the first fixing holes in the front of the swing arm which is the position that PAP suggest in the manual so the cage is much further back than it would be in your case!

    I do not have the manual with me at work but I will post a copy of the hang point recomendations if you want when I get home.
