  1. Happy New year to all you Oxford and Bucks paramotorists (a bit late I know). Just to let you know that Eds back and will be flying again this year. As some of you know, I live in Thame and I am sorting out places to fly from at the moment. If you are local and are looking for somewhere please let me know (put your town on any replies).

More importantly if you have a field that can be used by fellow members pm me and we can have a chat. I hope to meet as many fellow paramotorists as I can this year. I might even pop down to Membury if they are lucky! :D

  2. I am in the process of arranging an expedition to the dark interior of the UK to attend the fly-in at Winsford.

This will be a dangerous trip 'up north' and not for the 'faint hearted'.

Is anybody else in the Oxford, Bucks area planning to undertake this dangerous journey as well?

I have a van with space for a brave compatriot and his tent and Paramotor if anybody wants to join me on the trip.

Good luck to all of us brave southern softies prepared to make the trip.

  3. Good tip Pete, do you remember when I did that to my PAP1250 and stood in the field at Common Leys farm trying desperately to reach it but couldn't and you had to start it for me!

My tip is use a length of tube to put the handle where you can reach it orjust take Pete with you to start it for you :D

  4. Hi Dan

I know there are a lot of people out there that listen to music whilst flying but it scares me not to be able to listen out for any danger!

I know the paramotor would probably drown out anything flying nearby but I like to think I may just hear it.

The same thing when I am on the motorbike since I nearly got 'taken out' by a police car because I couldn't hear the siren! (not many police cars in the air though).

    Happy new year

  5. Thanks guys.

Can't see a big problem as I am informed that there is only about 200 to 300 people there at most.

I use a Canon EOS with a 300mm lens so the only problem would be if I had to fly over at 3000 metres (whatever that is :D ).

I just get annoyed at the fact that the aviation world uses feet but, somehow, in this country we mix in metres for no reason!

quote "less than 1500 feet above the highest fixed object within 600m of the aircraft, whichever is higher"

They can't even keep to the same measurement in one sentence!!!!!!!!!

  6. Thanks for the reply Simon, just a couple of questions:

Is that meant to read 1000 metres and not 1000 feet? (I ask because I thought all aviation was done in feet).

What are the rule if less than a 1000 people does it just revert to the 500ft rule.

  7. I can't believe that I had no replies to my last post.

Why is it that if somebody flies at 499ft or gets within a couple of miles of some bloke walking his dog in the middle of nowhere there are people wanting to have them hanged, yet if you ask for confirmation of the rules for a specific purpose there is tumbleweed rolling past the screen?.

To quote Deliah Smith "let's be having you" :D

  8. What is going on here? It was only one donkey and now you won't let me forget it :D

On a more serious note the football club have asked if I can take some pictures when the team and/or the boys football clubs are playing on the site.

Can someone clarify the rules about flying over events where there are a lot of people please.

    regards

  9. Hi Paul

I use a Bak-Rak to save the smell of petrol in the car and not having to take it apart (it is a bit bent and not so easy to assemble and dismantle as it used to be).

I made a plywood base for it that fits perfectly into the rack with battens screwed on to hold the paramotor base stable.

I can fit the rack very quickly and always jump on the back of the rack before pulling away as I am also not sure how it works either but it is very solid.

  10. Why is it that the speedo on my car is in mph, the Sat Nav in my car is in miles and mph, all the maps I have are in miles, every sign post in the country is in miles and yet people insist on using Kilometres and KPH?.

I am not aware of any plans to change the system in this country yet so how about (like Jock)using a measurement that we can understand!.

ps: I feel much better now :D .
