  5. the cameleon throttle also has this, but depends on how flexible your thumb joint is
  6. Standard netting made up and I will post out on Monday Thanks

  9. hi all I have found a site in north Northumberland with permission for a fly in, camping and possibly catering if there is a demand. I am after any advice re organising a small and informal event, possibly in May or June. There are excellent coast and hills to explore. Thanks
  10. yes the planning would leave me wild camping but i would need some petrol stops with landing nearby. with the zenith i can detach the fuel tank easily and wander to the petrol station or i will drop off fuel in locations on the drive to the start.
  11. i have a multifuel msr international that could burn the petrol but the weight + bulk is too much for how much it is needed- come to think i could just use the petrol on some leaves / twigs. and make a simple fire to heat water. im still in the planning stage at moment,.
  12. the msr pocket rocket, but the canister will weigh a bit alpkit have a lighter type and some nice titanium cookware. the tent im planning on is a terranova laser comp, ive got goretex bivi bags but i hate sleeping in them if at all possible. the wing isnt ideal as a sleeping bag as you say its not breathable, i have a small down bag that i could use and use the wing as the mat. im planning on it taking 3-4 days portpatrick near stranraer to berwick following the southern upland way.
  13. i am trying to plan a 340km coast to coast at the moment for next year. fuel caches on the way, or scoping out petrol stations. camping kit will come in under 5kg, ultra light tent- 1kg or bivi 600g, wing as sleeping bag- in a custom made saussice bag. msr stove 20g, just need good weather.
  14. I think I might try and make one of these, more to keep warm on long flights, but I need to think of a way of making sure it won't end up in the prop
  15. A notam does not normally trigger an avoidance zone except certain sites which have a lot of activity have a 2.5nm avoidance area which can be triggered by a notam. The notam just lets all other air users know that you may be in a certain area, but does not mean that they have to avoid that area.
  16. morgy- would you have to have a remote adjustable carb to reach those heights?
  17. I don't think the airlines allow an engine to be transported once it's been used due to the petrol issue.
  18. thanks, i understand that bit, i was just confused re clives answer early on in thread that the 500ft rule applied to airborne aircraft. perhaps we could have an airlaw lecture at the fly-in?
  19. thanks, i still cant find anything about the 500ft rule for proximity to other airborne aircraft? i must do more reading,
  20. i cant find anything relating to 500ft rule for non surface objects? only the proximity avoidance of collision rule can you explain the 500ft clear rule as it relates to taking off and landing at a field ie not an aerodrome. im just interested as im preparing for pilot theory exam, thanks. neil
  21. As I'm sure you will be aware the 500ft rule applies to surface objects and not other aircraft
  22. please book me down for a place. im coming from berwick upon tweed, so will decide for definite once forecast available, thanks, neil
