  1. Aha so thats where the Egg motor on Ebay went LOL great buy jock , ya beat me to it ,,,
  2. Hi Pete as a Profoundly deaf budding paramotor pilot this is great info , of which i was totally unaware so mega thanks for putting this info up . will be registering asap
  3. Hi Morgy Thanks for the input , at the price they are going for i would could get a seperate glider for Paragliding and wait a bit longer to get my Paramotor wing , thanks to the info on this forum i will definatly be aiming to get a dedicated Paramotor Wing , so will be keeping my beady eyes here and elsewhere for that .. have made the classic newbie mistake of Buying my paramotor but as iv'e always been dealing with two stokes since my Karting days and from my mech engineering / Machining background i knew it was a good deal even if i mothballed it till training was completed. so the route im taking may seem the long way round but the goal is the same to get Trained and then Airbourne Cheers Morgy
  4. Hi Guys. while wishing to combine my training for both Paramotors and Paragliding i have come across a offer from a reputable school regarding new old stock for sale . these Paraglider wings are circa 2005-2007 . brand new and will be checked and sold with 1 year warranty any thoughts as to the downside of this good deal( Bang for bucks new glider at budget price --not cheap but considering cost of new glider its Good ) these were Made by FreeX which i beleive are no longer in bussiness but have offloaded their stock to various clubs/dealers etc ( To get what revenue they can i suppose).. either way i could save alot of money as these are brand new DHV 1 & DHV 1-2 Models -- material degradation ref lines/wing etc -- my belief is since they have not been exposed to UV and will have a Porosity test what other areas should i ask about Ps MY EP training is now complete and looking into CP strickly speaking i decided to go this route before Paramotoring so that i tick all the boxes, Spoke to and Visted Simon a month or so back and thanks to his great advice undesrstanding of my Disability ( Im Profoundly deaf --Put it this way when the battery runs out im 100% deaf LOL ) i am now armed with the a lot info i needed and whereas i know i'll be a paramotorist very soon this deal seemed to make sense .. so general thoughts and experiance regarding the wing would be appreciated guys ( already have my Fly gold 110 paramotor but it's mothballed until i do my training with Simon) .. Cheers Guys
  5. Hi Rob consider that an offer i'd take up LOL. Already got my own paramotor( which is Mothballed until after training is done ) and Ground handling wings + other gear just need to get my EP training Finished before i start My Paramotor Traing and would like the oppertunity to chew the fat as it were , thanks for the heads up, and a great insight from a local flyers point of view . dont worry guys not planning to break any rules or regs just nice to know the possibilities .. PS had some assisted air time on a nice windy but managable day last week LOL my son provided the thrust and i actually managed to get a good few feet off the ground of level controlled flight and Landing so the EP course and the ground handling are gelling nicely. now if only the wind would drop to a reasonable level again by the time i finish work in the evenings all would be sweet Cheers Rob
  6. Hi I Practice ground handling over puley way all the time and im dammed if i knew we were able to take off from this area ==--- are you serious when you wrote this ??? i still have a long way to go er slight matter of £1200 for lessons & getting Training from a recognised School ( coming my way september 2012 ) but use every oppertunity to ground handle Over Purley Way as its just 10 Mins away for me, hell i even saw steve Haze over there some time back so i know its a good site ,Not that im likely to repeat your exploits but big smile to think that it could have happened LOL
  7. Hi guys . after reading the fine print proviso on most of the Ebay sellers have ask question, did anyone end up paying customs charges etc for these units when shipped from the far east ? cheers
  8. Hi Guys Newbie here , are you refering to pedham place down in swanley ( golf coures where they have the massive boot fairs on sundays ) ? Easy to get to for me so would be nice to pop over when your flying again
  9. This is the year i wanna make the descision about my dreams of flight have spent the better part of £2000.00 over the last 4 years trying to get my EP certificate and been thwarted each time due to family weather work , all the usual subjects ( who woulda thought 5 days training could take that long ) i admit i needed to be a bit more determined and know loads of guys and gals have done it so i blame no one for it taking me so long ( yeah i take it back, i blame the weather) . any ways this is the year to make it happen , and here lies mine quandry , Being deaf i have a wee problem with full on communication but i manage great all things considered, so with that thought in mind and my love of flying my plan is to get airtime not neccesarly ( bet thats spelt wrong ) Cross country as it stand my aim is to learn to fly and just potter around the skys of my take off point ( air time again ) , have my most of my own kit or maybe would consider rental (due to weather again) i already have Training wings , Bought My sup air Harness from new and all the gear just need to finish my EP 1st ( 2 lots of year long lapsed 5 day sessions bummer got to day 3 both time bugger ) as thats the thing that will decide if i can hack it .. is my understanding correct in saying that i can train as a Paramotor Pilot but still need to Get My EP & CP rating to paraglide when not paramotoring ... im in london so Green Dragons is only 20Mins from me , but im guessing they dont do Paramotors ( upsets the owners) and biggin hill is just over the rise :-0 anyways .. so big question money being tight i will train abroad with a recommended and accredited School this year and hope to get all the work in but want to maximise my options before commiting to buying any more gear eg Flying Wing -- what wings are suitable for both instances ( sorry have not done all the research yet ) . just so i can make the most of my spending .. cheers guys these and other questions will be asked when i see ya'll face to face
  10. Hi Meds Hops i got that right would be great to come up and see you guys in action, and at least this way i have a target venue and date to aim for . will keep in touch and hope to get an update closer to the event date .. Many thanks for the heads up, will be great just what im hoping for ---now all i gotta do is look up Chesire LOL have car will travel cheers Guys
  11. Hi Guys thanks for the replies , just noticed another massive area on this Forum which answered my orignal question so sorry if it seemed silly, im based in sunny croydon but given the chance to see you guys in action have wheels will drive ( sat nav does the rest ) hiya Steve i had the pleasure of speaking you a while back at a PPG flyin you guys organised cant remember the location . but do remember the help and enthusiasm of the guys and gals i met at the meet . The weather was playing up, so many did not get a chance to fly while i was there. but to me it was worth the trip just to see the equipment up close and just chew the fat ( Bit hard on you guys cos of my hearing problem my bionic ear is not so great around 2 and four strokes LOL ) but you all made me feel welcome and thats what i took from the event ... i now know steve haze is just round the corner and will be in touch but also fancy a trip up to membury so will re-introduce myself when i see ya then ... thanks again guys , all very much appreciated.. Happy flying and heres to better weather soon
  12. Hi Guys would like to turn up to see guys flying at various sites this year , is there a common section/place on this website that lists events or where and when clubs or flyers intend to meet and fly , would be great to just sample the atmosphere and see pilots in action -- giving serious thoughts to investing in training and equipment but as before would like to get some feedback face to face as i have a hearing problem, but that does not stop my dream to Fly both paragliders and Paramotors Cheers
  13. hi guys just wanted to say thanks for making a newbie ( or should that be wannbe a newbie ) spectator a happy chappy , this was my first attendance at a fly in and have to say i could not have hoped to have met such a great and helpful bunch of guys . my trip up from london was well worth it in my view, and i got a feel for the sport and the members , loved the way everyone was so relaxed and definetly enjoyed each orthers company , as i said i turned up not knowing what to expect and was nervous ( hell i was just a spectator LOL:-0 ) but you guys were great , and very helpful with knowledge and experiance.. all in all good compay and made my day, being a EP Trainee pilot i already appreciate that the weather does not alway play ball, but throughout the day some guys managed to get air time and i was at long last able to see why i such a great interest this branch of flying ... fingers crossed i hope to be in a position to take things to the next level and Simon will be my 1st port of call ... just my way of saying big thank you to all the guys that really made me feel at home and look forward to poping into the next event (from the deaf bloke witha ll the wrong questions but got al the right answers ) Cheers
