  1. I've got some neoprene shooting gloves. Never worn them for flying (never flown), but they are IMO no good at all. Colder than my paper-thin leather gloves (which are actually quite good).
  2. Are there still plans afoot to site a turbine at Membury.
  3. Pretty much never. Downloaded a QR reading app as a novelty then deleted it again a week later. I was reading the other day about how QR is doomed as none (?) of the smartphone manufacturers include them as standard and how it will be leapfrogged by near-field technology. My brother has all his contact details in a QR code printed on the back of his business card. This is a great idea as it makes entering someones details into outlook (or whatever) so much easier. However, I don't think it has/will catch on.
  4. Pat, good to see you at Membury on Friday. Really enjoyed the video, it makes me even more desperate to get into the air. Glad to see the fogging of your GoPro wasn't an issue. I suspect it only became apparent when you descended to the warmer air on landing. Jamie
  5. I'm pretty sure you'll get even sharper images if you shut the lens down a stop or even two. Lenses don't perform at their best when wide open. Let the shutter speed work itself out, but I guess you probably need 1/500th or better. Fully manual exposure will be a pain, so I'd avoid that. Maybe think of using the auto-bracketing function if exposure is proving difficult? Please note these comments are based upon hearsay and book learning and unsullied by experience from the real world. Nice pics by the way.
  6. Pete_B. You're not playing the game properly. You are supposed to wait until September 2017 before it's your turn to contribute
  7. Damn it! I assumed, completely incorrectly, that today was going to be far too windy and didn't even think about coming up to Membury. Glad you had a good fly. I need o get myself in the air very soon. Jamie
  8. http://youtu.be/lzvra-uNulM Hope this one works.
  9. No idea who the pilot is, but I stumbled across this vid on youtube and was curious what went wrong... I am guessing aggressive manoeuvring close to he ground, nasty thermal over the car park (see the clouds above). I am guessing he survived but it does look like he ended up facing backwards which doesn't seem like a good idea. Thoughts?
  10. Colin, you are a man of many talents. Thank you. That's much clearer now. Jamie

    Shall I?

If you accidentally set it to the 'ski' function that operates only with rapid descents it would only film your crashes!
  12. Patrick I'm pretty sure that when I spoke to Simon W, or maybe one of the Colins, a few days ago they were saying that stubble can easily poke a hole in your wing. Not recommended! Jamie
