    Helmets

Can't comment on the Horus but bought a Icaro TZ two years ago and have been very pleased with it. Very light and comfortable and the Peltor 3's are excellent. My only gripe would be with the visor, I get a lot of turbulence behind it when it's down which tends to cover the inside with snot and tears especially in the winter so I just use it as a sun visor. It only took a few days to be delivered from Italy and you even get added to there Xmas card list, so it's a thumbs up from me. Tim
  2. Hoping to get up again Tuesday, same time and place although wind direction not ideal but might swing round a bit by then. Could be a bit chilly for a xc though. We'll keep you posted. Tim
  3. Hi Simon Can you add me please, sounds like fun. Thanks Tim
  4. Hi Tony, Had a L4/5 discectomy back in 2004 when I was 35, blame it on getting in and out of Elise's every day. I just remember coming round after the op without feeling any pain, heaven. It took a while to get confident with getting back to normality but goes without saying just take it easy to start with. Did the core strengthening exercise but couldn't be arsed with pilates and the like. As for flying, I only started 4 years ago and my back has never been a problem (and my motor is not the lightest), in fact I rarely give it a second thought these days. Good luck with your recovery, It'll soon just be a distant memory. Tim
  5. Non facebooker saying I'll be there. Tim
  6. It' a PWK26 that iv'e fitted , thought it might be a bit small to start with but motor is reaching the desired rpm under load . I was a bit paranoid about bubbles when I was using a Walbro so fitted the reservior then, and just carried it over to the slide carb conversion , It also eliminates any need for a pressure regulator with good old gravity feeding the carb. Drilled main jet out to 117 and i think pilot was some thing like a 48 from memory , middle groove on needle. I set fueling using a lambda at ground level and hopefully it won't richen up too much with altitude to affect economy , plug colour looking good so far. Still needs a little fine tuning at idle but put this down to inlet tract length and temperature. Next step is fuel injection when I've accumulated all the parts. Tim
  7. Just done the same thing on my Cors-air Black Devil. Due to crap weather I've only flown with this set up for a couple of hours so far but looking promissing so far. I'd recommend remotely mounting carb to avoid frothing and I feed mine from a reservoir mounted above carb to eliminate bubbles in fuel line. Also make sure you get full throttle as I had to make a one off throttle to achieve this. Can see some carb icing problems , so looking forward to warmer weather to get confident with this set up. Good luck Tim
  8. Hi Dariusz, There's a few of us who fly from Northampton , when it stops raining and the fields dry out a bit you'll have to come and have a buzz around. Where abouts do you fly from? Tim
  9. Hi Lisa, I'm afraid none of us has a Freshbreeze as far as I know. Does it have to be one? as we fly Bailey ( 4 piece cage ) , Custom-air ( 3 piece cage ) and Pap ( 2 piece cage ). You're more than welcome to come over and maybe get some inspiration for your project. Tim
  10. You'll have to pop up to Northampton, there's usually a few of us flying near Pitsford whenever the weather permits. Can sometimes go weeks and weeks without ideal conditions so don't give up hope. PM me your number and I'll text you when we're up. \ Tim

    Bing carb

Hi, Does anybody know where I can buy a Bing 84/32/145 carb ? Thanks Tim
  12. Had some correspondence with Matt at Ecotrons back in April about a kit for my Black Devil and he replied: > Hi, Tim, We did Cors-Air BD engine. Now it's not PNP yet. There are a few things to be taken care. 1) Throttle body adaptor 2) charging capability is not enough for EFI, so some charging system upgrade is needed; 3) fuel pump location could be better packaged. If you can take care these yourself, then it's ok. thx, Matt Although not impossible to do these mods it would be a lot less hassle to start with a more suitable motor ( preferably 4 stroke with a decent charging system to run a 3 bar in-tank fuel pump continuously) My thoughts were to rob all sensors , throttle body , injector and fuel pump off of some modern fuel injected 125cc motorbike like a yzf and connect it to a fully programable ecu so it could be mapped for perfect fueling at any altitude. I should be able to ditch my 2 reserve tanks , saving about 6 kgs of fuel and still have the same range. I believe a tuned pipe is still required on a 2 stroke so that the pulse wave returning back up the pipe pushes unburnt mixture back into the cylinder . All I need now is that 4 stroke motor. Tim
  13. Stripped fuel system back to basics and refitted Walbro carb. Tick over is a lot smoother and feels a bit more powerfull but still having problem of motor cutting out on tickover which is a pain when descending as it will only restart with a prime. Any ideas anyone? Thanks Tim
  14. Thanks for suggestions , Been doing a few mods and current fuel system consists of:- In tank fuel filter - primer bulb - external pulse pump - fuel header tank situated above carb with bottom outlet feeding new Tillotson HL360a carb and a top outlet doubling as vent and return to tank. All seems a bit OTT but it eliminated the bubbles in the fuel line to the carb but the original fault of carb going lean and cutting out when left to tick over for about 30 seconds still persist. Am I missing something? ( apart from this great flying weather) Thanks Tim
  15. Has anybody had any trouble with bubbles in fuel lines and how did you cure it? Just swapped my Walbro wb37 to a Tillotson HL360a on my Cors-air Black devil hoping to cure the problem. Fuel ratio is good all the way through the rev range but if I allow revs to drop below 3000 rpm then vibration causes fuel to froth in carb , goes lean and cuts out. One squeeze on primer bulb and it fires up again. Appreciate any thoughts on possible cures. Thanks Tim
  16. Thanks for that Simon but Germany must be on back order too as they're not replying to my e mails. Will just have to wait till they're in stock over here. Tim
  17. Can anybody help me track down a Tillotson HL360 carb as everybody i've contacted so far says they're on back order and won't be in till some time in July. Thanks Tim
  18. Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my Black Devil from a Walbro WB37 to a Tillotson carb but need to know a model number for the Tillotson. Is there anybody out there using this set up and would you recommend it? Am looking to get better economy during level flight and more reliable starting so I can do some engine off thermaling (if we ever get any decent weather this year that is) and be confident that it'll restart after 15 to 20 minutes . Thanks Tim
