  1. Hi all

Managed to get signed off at Airways a week or so back, have all the gear and am ready for the off. Only problem is off from where? I'm currently based in Kidderminster. Any ideas anyone? There is a farmer to whom I have spoken before who has potentially got a field (he's a micro-lighter), but nothing is set in stone as yet. Any advice appreciated. More than happy to chip in towards a field or two.

    Cheers, Andy

    Hi Andy

There's a field in Powick in Worcester a few people use, look out on the Worcester section, I'm sure someone will post soon... The more the merrier.

I fly there when I can it great place to fly

    Cheers

    Carl

  2. Hi Vinnie

You have an excellent wing mate !

Do not listen to the s*it on the internet, its one of the most popular beginner/intermediate wings out there for a reason.

I do NOT fly one either, in fact i don't own a Paramania wing never have, I have no reason to say its good or bad.

If i was to buy again I'd buy a Revo2

Get out and enjoy, and don't have any doubt in the wing otherwise it will play on your mind.

    Regards

    Carl

  3. When you thinking of doing the trip dan,do we have a back up driver in case of problems,im in//////

Jock this will require more than 12 min of flight LOL

Dan we've not met .... i'm sure we will bump in to each other soon.

I am also in! Sounds good.

  4. The weather finally became flyable again. I wish it was a bit earlier in the day I only had the chance for a short flight with the speedster but I hope I can have another go tomorrow, I need to have another go at it to see if this really is what I want.

Question is what I think of this 28 m2 speedster compared to my 26 m2 fusion. I'm used to my fusion so it's hard to be fully objective in such a small test.

Top speed is probably as good or maybe better with the speedster, never really had a good test for that.

Sink rate, well.. I was hoping for a little bit better here, not worse of course but no miracle.

Handling. This is the difficult one. Tip steering if very responsive on the speedster, I guess the key to handling on the speedster is this, need to test this more. On normal brakes the handling on the fusion is in my opinion much better, I like that a lot, but this is the area where getting used to the glider plays a big part and the fusion is smaller.

The general feeling of the speedster is worse compared to the fusion right now. I feels more damped and I'm not sure I like that.

I'm hoping for good weather tomorrow so I can have a go on the fusion to feel the air and then on the speedster again.

those of you with the speedster, do you use the tip steering all the time if you want to flip it around some?

Don't hold me to this but I'm sure I've seen YouTube videos of this wing and the pilot pulling on the break and tip stealing at the same time.

  5. Hi Carl.

Yes, would be great to come and say hi. Have never actually seen a paramotor in the flesh before! If you could let me know when and where I will definitely come and watch.

Look forward to hearing from Jock if he is about.

Ok, Drop me a text and I'll let you know when I'm planning on going Powick.

    This sport/hobby is addictive !!

You WILL end up weather watching and looking up in to the sky wishing you was flying.

  6. Falling over in grass that's knee high on a Nill wind day may I add !!! Lol :explode:

Yeah Monday's a possibility & Tuesday ... Looks flyable both days at the moment.

    I'm up for both :)

You can have a blast on a Gin Airflex .... I'm sure you'll manage a good 15min.

  7. cant be me,ive had every colour wing apart from orange, lol..who flys from the kite feilds,im sure when we all descend on the new farmers feild, which ever one he shoots out the air with buckshot we will know,,,next good east/west day i will give ya a call and we can go try it if powick has not been cut, looking crap weather rest of week, ive picked the wrong 2wks to have of work.

Ha ha Jock you've had more wings than I've had flights ! And I've never seen you fly for longer than 5 min lol.

  8. I would say a parajet V5 with a Revo2. (as you like the V5)

    (Personal choice for a newby).

    Pete

    My thoughts exactly ..

Where about are you from EDD209 ?

Hi Carl, I'm Tim and I'm in the Wellingborough area of Northants.

I dont know anyone from around your area unfortunately.

I'm neither BMAA or BHPA but I'm looking in to doing My BHPA through airways, I believe you can do it in two days if you prove your a confident pilot and know your air law.

  9. Hi Jock, noted..

I'm sure who ever it was didn't see the horses.

Nice of the farmer to offer a new field to take off from, it's finding hard to secure fields at the moment.

Had a lovely 50min flight lastnight from Nottingham, practicing low flying in 3mph wind.

Hopefully Powick will be cut soon so we can all get together.

    How's Sean ?

    Cheers

    Carl

  10. Yes Jock, let us know when the grass is cut, I've been missing my Powick 'fixes'! Luckily my farmer cut my take off field for me last Friday, so been enjoying the thermals the last couple of days. Big clouds yesterday evening had to be avoided over Kiddy yesterday.

    Richard

After Sean being ill on Friday my trip to castle morton was put off ... Decided to see if I could have a fly local from a car boot site in Romsley

After asking the farmer he agreed to me using a field a mile up the rd. ( Im a friend of his son)

He also added that he lets a paramotor pilot fly from there.

We got talking to find out it was Richard.

I hope that's ok with you Richard ?

I did not fly local to the farm and kept height at all times.

Anyway I had two 1 hr flights and loved it, flew with music for the 1st time too.

Great day flying on my own, looking forward to bumping in to Richard.

  11. Good news on the repairs Carl. Hope you get some airtime soon.

Worth contacting the Devon and Somerset Condors paragliding club for a visitor fly of one of their PG sites. Coastals sites are best with a bit of wind. Bossington hill is a favourite of mine.

    Richard.

    Hi Richard

After looking at the weather im not taking it down ... it looks too windy for me.

I was really looking forward to flying the coast.

  12. morgy couldn't give me the p/x price i got at airways and i'm waiting for the v5e

the v5 is a lot lighter than the 175 and has a lot more thrust, it is a completely different machine compared to the earlier versions, all new engine, new carb, components etc.

uk based company and you will be saving forever to pay shipping, tax etc to the states, don't know how many have sold in states or if there is an importer/dealer, you need to send an email to bailey and ask them.

Check Mr Loaded out !!

Didnt realise you'd ordered a V5 Matey ... fair fooks!

Got me motor back yesterday and its looking nice.

You still not got yours back from Bailey ?

  13. powick grass should be cut soon.carl have you got you ppg fixed.i will have use of a minibus soon with box trailer.that i shall put to good use when the wife dont need it,

Still no luck with the grass being cut Jock ?

    I'm ready to go ....

Looks like the weekends blown out in Somerset.

Friday might be OK if the grass is cut.

    Carl

  14. Hello Jock

Yes had the Paramotor repaired, its due tomorrow as I've paid the very good value for money shipping and packaging Parajet are offering.

Give me a shout when Powick is cut and ill come down for a fly, no doubt Richard will too.

Are you going the Nationals ?

I'me off to Somerset for the weekend coming with the wife and kids, I'm taking my gear, never flown by a beach before, I've heard people say its smoother wind??

Don't know where im taking off from yet though !!! Any one with any tips ??

    Cheers

    Carl
