  1. Mate Mark Morgan is your man when it comes to anything V5 ... He's on here under MORGY

He'll give you some tips for the harness, he'll most likely contact you after reading this.

I've noticed you have the new plastic tank.

My Airfex is a lovely wing ... P*ss easy to take off and land as long as I keep above neutral on landing.

I have the 28 and although I'm in weight I wish it was smaller.. I feel like I'm swinging around under the wing when I actually want the wing to roll around me. If that makes sence

I'm not really in to thermal flying and much prefer morning and evening flights. I like being in control lol.

  2. I'm sure you will get used to it Dan. I started mark Morgan's v5 on my back and was amazed at how easy it was to start. I think it's actually easier than pulling a 200 Thor ..

I also have a Gin Airflex and if I come in on full slow its got absolutely no energy in the wing. I now come in on about 30mm past neutral like yourself i feel so much more in control.

  3. Love the V5 Dan ..

They sound so nice compared to the two stroke.

Richard your comment made me laugh, did u get up Jock ?

I had a 20 local flight this afternoon, wasn't the best conditions but needed my fix after flying everyday in Spain last week.

Dan out of interest your landing on the video, did you slow the wing right up on the trimmers when you came in ?

  4. According to this months Paramotor mag the GTX is going to be a dedicated cross country wing .. max stability with minimum input.. So prob the opposite of what you're after Carl. How about a Hadron? I reckon we need a demo day m8 8)

    A demo day sounds good.

Not sure about the Hadron, it doesn't seem as popular.

A demo day would be good, Matt K has kindly offered me a go of his GTR but he lives many miles away from me and I'm a fat git and would be over weight massively on it.

A demo day would be good.

I'm awaiting a price on a 22gtr if a paramania dealer wants to pm me with a price ?

  5. Hi Carl

Having seen you fly and you skill level i would say you were good enough to fly the GTR. The GTR like other small wings will get the new pilot into trouble very fast. I would never sell a GTR to someone i have not personally seen fly..

Carl are you after a slalom style wing or XC The GTX is on its way very soon. There is also the New Slalom wing by Ozone, (slalom) out now

    Now time to go flying!!!

Lucky you, I couldn't get out today, might get out tomorrow for a few hrs.

More slalom, but I don't want to get in to comp status or anything like that.

More for fun flying.. I love fast landings, foot dragging etc

I want the wing to last me, I don't want to buy a wing then a Yr later wish I'd gone for the GTR.

  6. Looking at the GTR by paramania .. It's aimed at comp pilots.

But so was the dudek re-action in 2008 and done well in the UK Nats.

I recently seen someone learn on a re action ..

What I'm getting at is it a big hype ?

How good of a pilot do you need to be to fly a GTR sensible ?

I know one person that flys the GTR and he's not a comp pilot, he just enjoys hedge hopping foot dragging and having a responsive wing.

Will people in 4 yrs be flying this wing like people fly the re action now ?

    Cheers.

    Carl

  7. Stevie, off subject, how are you finding the polini on a macro cage? Is it a 100 or 200 ?

I currently have a volution with the Parajet engine.

I was planing on upgrading to a zenith, but after spending a lot of time with pilots that have one I've been put off.

What is the 'true' dry weight of the macro with polini 200 with harness and prop ?

It's the 100, It's okay. I considered the 200 but it had only just been released and the 100 had the bugs worked out of it so I went for that. My previous machine was the mkI Volution, this feels better, is much lighter and has plenty of thrust for how I fly. The harness is very good but it isn't as comfortable as the Volution Sup'air harness, but is much more adjustable. Do miss the eletric starter sometimes. Biggest issue I've had has been getting the motor running right - I've rejetted it five times and got it good now, it runs better in the lower revs and mid range plus oil no longer streams out of the exhaust joints. They do seem to come out of the Polini factory jetted very rich, perhaps on purpose.

What's put you off the Zenith?

The fact they are so flimsy and you need a good 20min to put it together.

And that 20 min is generous.

I want to find out the dry weight of a macro/polini 200 complete.

I do like my supair harness too.

    Decisions decisions.

  8. I have been looking at the Nirvana Rodeo and the Parajet Zenith Thor 200

Not really sure which one to go with. I have my mind set on a speedster30

I'm 214lbs with no gear. Would be doing most XC going. The only other person I know that PPG has a Rodeo and a Nuc. 29 and a carbon trike. I travel alot and this is why I am looking at these two model . The are with in dollars in the states.

    My thoughts are

Rodeo. double hoop if something goes bad.

Fiberglass houseing not fun to repair, but I deal with epoxy , glass and carbon everyday

    alittle lighter

    electric start

Zenith Alum hoop ( have a tig and a mig if i need to repair)

Clutch motor kind of a plus

Like how it breaks down for travel.

Will not take a hit as well if sh!t hits the fan ( sorry for the pun) contact the ground if I slip in the snow or on the ice on landing and take offs.

can someone help me with the good, the bad , the ugly

    thanks for any help

    terrieB

The Zenith will be a jigsaw if you fall over with it.

It will not take knocks like a Parajet macro. However if you need it to break down to a suit case size package then it dows that well.

    It also looks amazing.

I also was thinking of buying a zenith until spending a week with 5 people who fly them, they are a b*ll ache to break down and put away.

Love the polini engine and strength of a macro so i think I'm going for a Custom macro polini instead.

  9. Rigger has had some made for the macro.

If you contact him I'm sure he will give you the contact.

They was very good quality too.

I got me one.... Thor 200....

When I've flown it a few more times il write proper review....

Till then.... Power is a word I'd use... Not lightly as I already have a cyclone 294.... For sale soon!

Shocked your selling the cyclone dude.

  11. Hi Craig

XC is my kinda flying we do many long xc flights down here on the south coast..my longest flight was 5h20mins But most are 2-3 hours land, lunch, and fly back, One of my favorite flights is the Isle of wight XC.. We take of with a light north wind from Hamrook and cross over to the island, Land at our fav spot near st Catherine's point have a pub lunch and wait for the sea breeze to kick in then we head off on a soaring flight along the coastline to the needles, We high tail it home at speed back to Hambrook, Our max speed home on one flight was 100kph.

All of the flights we do are normally on one tank of fuel (bailey V5) But most of the spots we land at will have a petrol station near by or a short walk.

I find the best way to plan flights is to use google maps or google pedometer or both and search for petrol stations if needed.

If your going to start long XC's you will need to learn to thermal and also buy an XCpee there is nothing worse than flying for an hour+ needing a piss... It will ruin your flight...

This is not a soaring flight as the sea breeze never came in but you might enjoy this little video

Great vid mate, I'd love to fly the above.

  12. The best helmets on the market are Icaro.. All the com's swivel for easy communication on the ground or if like me you like to thermal then you can move them out of the way and all you hear is the vario and wind

I use a Scarab & a Fly UL both from Icaro.. id recommend both.

I use the Scarab with visor if flying winter, high or long distance and the Fly UL if messing around on a summers evening.

I have the Micro Avionics MP -100 That fits both helmets if need be.

  13. No its because you tinkered with a perfectly good engine... As i used to say to my young apprentice no touchy touchy, touchy touchy no no.....

    :explode:

    I know mate.

I done a 'you' yesterday and cleaned my paramotor from top to bottom :P

Only because the wife moaned because i wanted to go out and fly tho. lol
