I thought 'Magic lift' as we get it in the Lambourn Valley, but.........
Thats as smooth as silk 99% of the time and then only a little bit bumpy the other 1%.
SW
Think I found the 1% last time I was there
Me too, plus a load of sink that nearly saw me hit the ground downwind on full power and yet the socks were hardly fluttering!

Try editing the post too Simon as there's a similar error there!!
I may well be along for this actually as I've definitely got nowt on that night, well, not unless Simon Cowell tells me different next weekend of course!

Something very wrong with the title of this thread! Has nobody else noticed what?

Bastard, I spat my coffee out then, thats a brilliant one!

Deano the guy that trained me has just put up another fantastic video of flying over this lush mountain range near the west coast of India.
He's arranging for this coming winter for anyone who wants to get out there for a week or two and hire his Pap machines and Revolution wings. I shall be sending my motor out and joining him, I can't think of a better place to fly over!

Having looked at booking events at the NEC in the past I'm sure that the huge costs have been the biggest issue plus the costs that each stand then has to pay to be there!
I reckon if it was done in a field with a large barn or a marquee it could turn a small profit whatever the weather although insurance is the other killer these days!
I thought you were looking into this Simon?
I'll bring some musical entertainment!

Tiz a dazzler, wouldn't fancy an engine failure though!

Well done matey, they're a good bunch down there. 4.5 hours is pretty impressive, thats almost half my airtime already but then if I lived in Spain etc...
See you in the skies in July then!

I would guess Somerset Norman being as he posted it in that branch!

Looking at the weather I'm afraid I'd be inclined to leave the kit at home! Can't see that will suddenly change much before but I could be wrong!

I agree with Phil, no honestly Phil I really do
If you restrict this debate Simon it then the forum won't have that nice feeling of free speech. I don't see there will be any slagging match. Ian's post was not in the slightest bit whiney, provocative or inflammatory.
We all want to be safe but we also want to be able to fly and its important to share experiences such as Ians.
Personally I wouldn't buy one of these as I don't know a single person who hasn't had a heap of problems and it was reading forums that made me realise this and go down the route of what I consider to be a more reliable manufacturer.
Sure all paramotors might have problems but some have more than others. When my Pap breaks or the engine stops suddenly I'll be the first to shout about it as I'm sure many others will.
I'm sure Ian has given all these comments to PJ but I don't think it helps to keep it a secret from others!

I have this system on my Pap and I don't understand why folk would wish to change to it. Personally I am going to go the other way and have a front mounted reserve with cockpit.
Having made a quick grab for my reserve behind my head in smooth level flight and not been able to find it then I dread to think what would happen in an emergency spiraling to earth, I believe I could grab it from the front whatever position I was in but the system behind the head is the preverbial chocolate fireguard in my opinion!
Cheers

I've just started filling my tank up to almost 13 litres now every time I take off, the reason being simply because I make my decision what I want to do once I get in the air, if its smooth and good visibility then I'll go for a long ride round knowing i have plenty of fuel for it and i hate the thought of running out and having an avoidable land out. If I don't want to stay up there then I can come back down and learn to land the heavier load which should make me better at landing it lighter.
Different strokes for different folks!

Good read Ken. I remember being relieved to get to the field and find it not quite flyable too and if it was flyable then I'd make as many excuses as I could until it got dark or the wind picked up. I got through that though and the last 8 times my wing and motor have come out of the van they've been airborne thankfully, there's no ifs or buts about it now, if its flyable then I'm going to fly and I'm going to take off at my first launch attempt too, thats my attitude now!
You got a nice landing on your feet too, well done, beats me as I still can't land for sh1t as you can see on my Facebook vid!

Is that the 'race' deck or just the normal one?

Ha, me too, I was nearly in tears and struggled to read the rest. Wonder what it was about that one because they were all funny, had I been drinking I'd have soaked the keyboard!

Great day yesterday, nice to meet Colin and Mike. First flight was bumpy and not particularly enjoyable even though it looked as though it would be silky smooth so after a break for coffee and sarnies Mike and myself took to the sky again at 6pm and it was awesome, went over the white horse and then came all the way back over to Membury and back again.
2 more hard cage landings for me though, gotta sort that out!

Oh, and I love this particular pic of Colin (Spigot) wondering why he couldn't unstick from the floor

He'll have to hurry up Pete, not much left of 'This March' ...
