  1. Glad your ok Pete and in good spirits too!

From my view point it was a pretty awful launch, should have used a bit more of the grass behind you to start with and yes you should have aborted takeoff, but thats all with the benefit of hindsight, some of my takeoffs where I've nearly hit fences could have gone same way but I got lucky!

I think your fireball was just a freak incident but nevertheless it shows that it CAN happen and made me think a lot more about going flying on my own, imagine that!

As a result I've now ordered a load of burns treatment for my first aid kit, a new fire extinguisher (one that works when you press the handle) and am looking for a tiny one that you can fly with!

So, hopefully there will be a positive outcome from your accident matey, it always takes an incident like that to improve safety, and I'm glad there's guinea pigs out there like you pete!!

    Here's to a speedy recovery!

  2. Hi Doug

Most of us know exactly what that feels like not to get in the seat, it happened to me again on Sunday morning and such was the pain to my back and the afore mentioned jacobs I turned 180 degrees and got back to earth as quick as possible and piled in hard in nil wind, then a little adjustment to the seat straps before my evening flight and I scooped up immediately as I left the ground.

It takes some fiddling about with to get it right and it goes against the grain to loosen all your straps to make it work but thats what you must do, I've now sussed that I need my shoulder straps back to their loosest setting (i tighten them a little once airborne) and the leg straps so that I can get a fist between them then stand up straight and tighten the seat straps until the seat is digging me in the back of the knees, it all seemed to work!

    Cheers

  3. Hi guys busy wanted to say thanks to all at the flagpole pn sunday.I will post more when I get home

Broke both bones just above the ankle after.

Pete b ps. It sure was hot in the sun

Yep, you're definitely hot stuff Pete. Glad to hear your ok (to an extent), bloody good timing though as I still hadn't given you that fiver I owe you!!

    Take it easy old man!!

    Malc

PS: You owe Mike an ice pop and Adrian a tshirt! :D

  4. Thanks Ken, I shall pass on your comments. If she feels appreciated by everyone she'll do it more often!

Loosen those leg straps my dear fellow!! :D

  5. Me and the missus will be there on Saturday morning and camping the night and staying all day Sunday unless its really shite weather and the company is boring!!

  6. I also think your all being a little hard on pete, if the site has content that is simple to find, and what the visitor is looking for, it will work just like a business card and get people calling!

    SW :D

Not at all Simon, Pete is a profesional guy and also a likeable guy, therefore needs to back up that image with a professional web presence, if none of us gave a shit we'd have let him carry on.

Who said anything about a blog? Wordpress is whatever you want it to be!

  7. Yep, I'd go with wordpress Pete. Simple, clean and fresh. Easily updateable, good for SEO too.

Your webhost probably has it all set up and just needs to 'flick the switch' for you as it were. Speak to Norman, his digitalaviator site is WP.

If your host doesn't have it, or you are with freebie and using forwarders- then you may be able to install it yourself if you have access to your space via ftp. Simples to do - copy and paste jobby really.

Let me know if you get stuck

thanks huff, can you just confirm you agree a bit with me about the existing site, i don't want to look a rotten whinging git!!!

  8. I don't understand. Like Jeremy Vine just said, if I walked into a bank or even a shop and took a few thousand pounds and kept it at home and then 6 months later I thought I was about to get rumbled I went back to the shop and gave it back to them I would be locked up!

I can't believe these c**ts are still in their job and still expect respect from us! This country is finished, absolutely screwed!

Makes The BNP more attractive by the minute don't it?

  9. Yikes, not being one to dampen anyones fire or dreams but to be bluntly honest old bud if I came across that website whilst looking for paramotor training I wouldn't even click another page even if you lived within a mile of me!

Whole thing looks very amateurish and I'm guessing it's free too!

    Sorry buddy!

    Malc

Just played with it for an hour or so. What do you think now :?:

    http://paramotor.webs.com/

    Any ideas are welcome.

There's an old saying Pete which I love, "You can't polish a turd". Get rid of the music (i'll go to myspace to hear music) and annoying Google Ads, get something like Joomla or Wordpress installed into your host space, then offer a bit of free pre training or additional training to one of the members on here to lay it out nicely for you, there's a few handy folk on here, I can do it but it takes me ages and I don't have the time at the moment!

Seriously matey, better to have no website than a shoddy one!

    Cheers

PS: Ask Steve Haze or Huff Huff on here, I'm sure they'll have an idea!

  10. Hi Norman

Am just waiting for a few quid to come my way and I'll chip in a bit! Can I just ask though (having lived in India for a couple of years I'm always sceptical of things like this) are YOU keeping hold of these funds and having full control on what it gets spent on and when?

No disrespect to Karan but I've seen similar situations turn out to be one big scam that can take a couple of years to come to fruition!

    Cheers

  11. Well I wish I'd come up yesterday afternoon as I drove a fair way and didn't fly, the reflex flyers all went up and got bumped around but were barely penetrating on their way back so I'd have finished up in Guernsey if I'd gone up!! Not flown since March 31st, bad bad bad!

  12. Check out the spec for my next camera (once I've paid my other bills) the Panasonic Lumix TZ7, wide angle, stills, 12 x optical zoom and hd video, perfect for paramotoring and its just a compact.

Pete, don't worry about your Sony camera, it would self destruct after about 5000 pics anyhow, my last 2 have so I'll never buy Sony again!

  13. Does that mean I'm the only one mad enough to do it on a push bike?

Although I feel stupid to admit it now, about 28 years ago I briefly rode my pushbike in the 3rd lane of the M4 towards London on a Saturday night, I'd be livid if I saw someone do that now!

  14. Yeah it can be a bummer if you buy something and find out its a bit of a shed, like the bottom end was just thrown together for instance, aint that right Malcs :D

    Dave.

i dunno, did you have problems with yours then Dave or am i missing something?

  15. Yes Phil, a well thought out and measured response, shame it falls on deaf ears though!

With regards to concerns, I did at first have a concern for Leo's safety but now it is just for his passengers and the damage to the sport that concerns me, actually add to that the poor folk he flies over too!
