  1. I know a PG pilot who has only one eye and to compensate for this he has stuck a mirror on the back of his glove, (just like a wing mirror) but he is an experienced pilot, so as Alan says its best to gain the experience while you still have sterio vision. Anything is possible, as they say. Mike
  2. Not as many as last year but the Xmas doo was brilliant, good food, good company. Alas some could not make it due to the weather or other committments. About 25 made it to the party. After the meal Simon made several presentations to well deserving pilots in the way of a transparent plaque on a black base with the pilots name on them. Resipients were: Norman, RAF Colin, Pete B, Eddie and Karan from Nepal. These were given mainly for pilots who either have excelled in the sport or have given much help to others. Pete B also got the broken prop on a wooden dias award accompanied by a candle (lit) in recognition of his much talked about flame landing (Glad your ankle is better also Pete). Also was the mention that the PMC Club members have grown to the point where if we have another 200 members (tinks thats correct) we will be the biggest PPG Club. Best wishes to all for the New Year and hope for good flyable weather Mike

I waived and he responded by rolling his wing side to side. Thought he was going to land but alas carried on up the beach. Anyone no him/her. Couldn't see what make of motor he was flying. 11. Hi James, l had the same dillemma when l took up the sport but decided on paragliding first and really enjoyed it and still am but the thought of powered flight and still being able to get it all in a car fascinated me. In both arms of the sport you do have a paraglider above your head and so groundhandling skills are practically the same for both PG and PPG. but as you know yourself for PG you have to get to a hill unless of course you go down the towing route (another aspect of the sport) The only main difference between the two is that PG is slightly cheaper in the long run but more costly in petrol getting to a hill and in addition hoping that the wind direction and weather is ok when you get there. PPG, still relying on weather but at least with a flat airfield you can take of into wind whatever the direction is at the time. Both PPG and PG have a great bunch of guys and gals and posting on this forum is a good start and ther is a mass of information to read from this forum. Good luck in your choice and hope you get to fly soon Regards Mike
  12. Yep Jackie put me right, sorry Big Simon, a senile moment l believe. Mike
  13. all, fantastic evening. All came together when we decided to light the bonfire, little twigs from Simons car, then a few trees with the help from Eddie and Colin then Bill and Sally turned up with some tree trunks and poles and as the fire finally took hold Pete B arrived with a trailer full of wood. Guy Fawkes would have been proud, the size of it. We all had to stand back a few yards with the heat that was given off. Then Richard P decided we were all hungry and popped off, returning with sausages, pie and chips for everyone, cheers Richard. Then Eddie went off to return with drinks for the group. Although a couple were set off earlier, Simon held fast until 1930 when sparklers were shared amongst everyone with help from Patti then the first of the firework display was lit. A great build up until the finale when a large biscuit tin size firework was lit which went on for a fair time. It went on till late in the evening and apart from soft sheep sxxt around and on every ones feet we all had a great time. Thanks again to Simon Richard Eddie Pete Bill and Sally and every one that turned up. Lets hope we fly soon Mike
