togsie
I saw a neat little trick on the TV program Bang Goes The Theory that you can use to estimate your altitude. It's based on the visibility of different types of animals legs. The theory goes that if you are flying over sheep and you can see their legs then you are flying at 500' (or less), if you can see a cows legs then it's a 1000' and a horse is 1500'. If you want to see it for yourself it's about the 2'30" mark here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... Episode_4/ Regards Togsie.
