Hi, on my solo when i bought it had a 12v 2.9ah lead battery, but since fitting a new starter even with jump leads it seems not to wind over the starter, but now i have a coil problem (new 1 ordered) so nothing works at present, but i'm still in 2 minds to convert over to 18v li-ion or ni cad batteries as should start easier will also save weight.

First post here.  Interested in converting to Liion as I've just been given a Solo 210 that hasn't been used for years and it has a dead battery (12v 3 amp gel) and needs a coil and a couple o bits which I have ordered.   I  fly paragliders, 500 hours but also fly RC models so already have 4 s 3.3 amp lions kicking about.  Does anyone have info please about 'converting' to liion please. Is it just a question of changing connectors? I've seen a few posts saying the starter is designed for more that 12v starting.

Bob the starters will handle extra power as its only in short bursts, i have not flown mine since fitting a 18.5v lipo battery but it does wizz over a lot quicker, i have fuel line problems so air is entering the carb, my only concern which i will address is in flight charging on the lipo battery, possibly fit a switch to stop this from happening as they need different chargers.

I did notice my starter body got a little warm when it didn't start but it normally starts fairly quickly, so hopefully back to this when fuel problems are sorted.

Also gel battery weight 1.2kg and lipo battery .2kg so big difference.

Can i ask who did you order coil of ? and how much please ? thanks Kiwi.
