  1. Thought I'd start my blog after the most amazing day on Sunday with SimonW on the field near the Flagpole. I've had 2 days already ground handling and 3rd day was Sunday the wind was blowing 7mph according to the forecast. After a very rusty 30 minutes I finally found a became at one with the wing and my confidence is blooming. I must admit the other site next to the flagpole did help, there is something a little intimidating with the thought of trying to land on a hill. A little sunburnt, very tired, aching and bruised, however I loved it, just wish I could have stayed all day as the evening looked just as good but a birthday clashed. Looking forward to the next good weather and possibly going for the motor!
  2. Someone has replied directly to the video on YouTube from Calafornia. They have said that they need to use a spacer with the Parajet motor and prop.
  3. My word!! someone found my video quickly! Had an amazing day training and after a rusty 30 minutes it finally felt natural. After a good day I am now aching and bruised but loved every minute. Fingers crossed for motor time next visit!! Anyway, more videos - Here's the other one of Colin, anyone know his user name to let him know? First one is still uploading (at least 40mins from my post time till available) [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo][youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]
  4. Saw this and was most impressed!! Still waiting for more training weather
  5. Yep, sucks big time! Met forecast for Swindon Friday = Gusts 46mph I love the English Summer Roll on Winter with its crisp clear days of nil wind and silky skies......
  6. Shame about the repair cost but a damn good read of your adventure. Keep us posted
  7. I have this week off and hoped to get in some training during the week with simon if he was around. Weather is so bad though Simon are there any time slots you think could be a possibility this week, I think the weather will be the issue?
  8. Hi Simon, okay if i come for training, can be there first thing.
  9. Sorry couldnt make it this weekend. First sign of good weather and I miss it!! Have just had a couple of moles cut off my neck and have a couple of stiches. Fingers crossed will be back next week weather dependant!
  10. I too like the sport being unregulated but still think the individuals should be questioned/charged if acting inappropiately. If a cyclist causes an accident the police speak to the individual not the sport as a whole, same in this case. Same rules such as being drunk in charge of a horse/bike should be same for paramotoring. Just needs people to use common sense and if they going to do something illegal then do it where it doesnt put other people at risk or cause annoyance. If the link fails, its http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT58Di51wDk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT58Di51wDk
  11. Anyone know of companies providing Life Insurance or Life Assurance which ever one it is called that covers Paramotoring?
  12. Sounds like someones just invested in another iphone app sat here waiting for os 3.0 to arrive but still no sign yet
  13. Sorry for the delay, training is going well, just had the first days start so far, looking forward to getting more done once the wind improves and time permits. Are you able to clear the cache/ cookies in firefox? Another thought is the website changed servers on the weekend of the 24th May. Was it working after Sunday 24th May? If not it may be something to do with the server location changing?
  14. Hi Steve, never used firefox. Can you describe any errors if you are getting any? Which stage does it stop you is it when you enter your password and hit enter, what happens after this?
  15. Just glad your okay, you were very very lucky, its put a whole new perspective on my first flight We noticed that the line almost caught on the prop when you were warming up the engine. I'm a fan of accident investigation....Another cause in the chain of events was the rupture of the fuel tank, any ideas how best to protect the tank? Was wondering about a sheet of carbon fibre to protect from debris after a prop strike? Would polystyrene absorb much impact if moulded around the tank? Another thought was ballistic foam or ballistic fire protection. As this is pretty new its bound to be expensive or too difficult to get hold of. I'm assuming its light as well.

    Bio-Ethanol.

Just had a quick google, Bear Grylls has previously been sponsored by a biofuel company: "Grylls was in Antarctica for a trip designed to improve the green credentials of bio-fuels. His four-man team is being sponsored by biofuel company Ethanol Ventures"

    Bio-Ethanol.

Good luck with the trip, can you get enough in the outback or can ground support carry enough or can you run on both bio fuel and petrol? has it been tried and tested already? Another wild idea is write to a couple of the big fuel giants. You could see if they would be willing to sponsor a few pounds to trial eco friendly fuel across the Australian outback as its bound to end on TV? Or failing that maybe write to a couple of large motor companies, a nice big 4x4 supporting paramotoring across the outback. Sounds like a good gimmick for an advert
  20. Is it possible to up the times a little for repeat search's, I'm reguarly getting the message about you cannot repeat your search please try again later....or something similiar. . Thanks, AdrianE
  21. Why do Parajet motors look so bloomin nice compared to all the rest !! If i had the money I would buy one now!!
  22. Is it okay to come up and start my training? Is it best to call night before still?
  23. You'd be surprised what they can track, we can track mobile phones at work with real time and historic data (we dont but it is esily done). We use the software to remote support devices, the tracking is another part that we do not pay for but have seen it working. Did you know TomTom units with the High Definition traffic info built in are powered by Vodafone, they track vodafone mobile users signals and if signals slow down on a road for a number of users they know there must be traffic. There was also a documentary recently where they tracked bluetooth signals across the UK. This is different to the radio versions of TomTom which use RMC. ref: http://blogs.ft.com/techblog/2007/11/to ... -vodahtml/ All very interesting but does make you wonder, especially as everyone carries around a portable video and bug with them (aka mobile phone). It doesnt take very much to tap into a phone and take pictures of its location or dial out to a number so you can listen in!!
  24. I'd guess that there isnt a minimum training age except being dependant on the trainers insurance. However solo would need to be minimum age of 16 (Aviation Law for paramotoring). As usual the law is bizarre in that you cannot buy knives but you could buy paramotoring kit even though you cannot fly solo until 16. I'm sure you could train earlier but I would say start saving now for the kit and the training. At least you could start your first solo on your 16th Birthday. In the mean time, apply for the RAF flying scholorship, this is the route I took and the intensive training was amazing. First solo in about 11 hours of flying a cessna from Bodmin in Cornwall!! Dont forget your Air Training Corps (ATC) , I also manged to get my Basic gliding course and my advance gliding course. I was also asked to help out at the Colerne Air Experience Flight (3 AEF). This bumped up my hours and experience. If you have not yet had work experience at school think carefully where you want it. Mine was at 3AEF which included extra flights. A really good book for reference regarding the applicable laws (in summary) and confirms all the minimum requirements is "paramotoring from the ground up" by Noel Whittall - ususally cheaper on ebay. Reference to insurance for yourself - even if you did manage to get some they most likely wouldnt pay out because you have to be 16. Its like not having an MOT on your car, if you have a crash your insurance THEN checks your MOT to see if they will pay out. Hope this makes sense. Best wishes for the future, Adrian
  25. Its not too bad If you had a job where it was common practice and you were allowed to claim for everything you probably would. The only MP's that should be in trouble are the ones that claimed falsely. They should suspend these MP's with false claims and just change the system for everyone that did claim within the rules. Not that I trust any of them in any way!.
