  1. That got your attention didnt it! Whilst talking to the organiser of the USSR event he informed me that he has it on good authority that next year will be a good flying year because..... it will have 13 full moons, lol apparently the last two years have only had 12 each! hmmmm im not convinced, but if he is correct i will have learned something! what do you guys think?
  2. I would say buy the wing, get up your local park and get practicing! i bought a great harness from ebay for about 50 quid , its made of straps instead of a cheap paraglider harness - you dont sweat (as much)! incidentally, i will have the same wing for sale soon in blue and black, but with a paramotor also (for a bigger guy - im 18 stone) I found that the reaction tends to 'overshoot' when you pull it up, but you get used to it....
  3. ...so at last i can get a 2m band and airband communication handheld, i can both talk and listen on both bands, even thought the airband range will be limited - is that correct?
  4. how do i mod a vx7r to do both 2m and air band?

    USSR

Did anyone pick up them leaflets advertising USSR (Ultralight Single Seat Rally) at splash? Its basically a rally of sub 115kg single seat aircraft who will set off from Sywell aerodrome in northants, then cover as much countryside as they can, before returning 2 1/2 days later. Sounds knackering to me! ....but interesting!
  7. synth 34 eh, big lad like me? i will await v33b!!!
  8. Hi all, Is a PMR a good idea? im going to buy an airband radio, but when i fly with another guy locally im considering a PMR. does anyone know if they all use the same band or are they idividually coded or..... i have no idea... can i buy one, then at a later date can my buddy buy one and can we then talk? help!
  9. ive already called the police back, and will agree to everything they say! but ive now had an idea to fly with my GPS and then if it happens again, i can show an overlay on google earth to proove that i didnt! Its a great field (60 acres with no trees or lines) and its free, but its close to the prison... I dont want to loose it! Dave, the walkerjet RR is great but i have no other experience, ive also just picked up a Fly castellucio SMN122 so ill be able to feel the difference. How do you cope with the torque pulling you to the right as there is no built in adjustments to compensate?
  10. ADMIN DO NOT REMOVE THIS POST AGAIN WITHOUT AN EXPLAINATION! What is the law about over flying a prison, my flying site is near to a prison and the police want to talk to me about flying near to it. as i understand it, prisons are not marked on air charts and as such do not have a no fly zone. the only rule that i think fits is the 1500ft built up area law. please help
  11. bump so i dont actually have to spread it out? What is the best gear to buy for winter flying??
  12. Hi, Im new to winter flying and was wondering how to deal with getting a damp or wet canopy. it seems to me that when i land the wing will always be lying on the frosty or damp grass, so when i pack it it will go mouldy What do i do??
  13. Hi all, i have a synthesis wing and was wondering a couple of things... 1-When under power, can i use the trimmer to counteract the torque? 2-if not i have heard that letting one side hang lower is also a way, but fitting a mallion will surely twist the riser by 90 degrees, is this ok?

    Reserve Mounting

Well, where is best to mount my nice new mayday 20 reserve, front or side? as i understand side is preferable as it helps counteract torque and you do not have to attatch each time you fly. also it wont break something on my body if it opens badly Whereas... Front is easy to find, more solid construction and easier to throw... What do you guys think?
  15. I dont understand? am? air band is defined as : 'Airband is used to mean the VHF band between 108 MHz and 137 MHz' but 2m band is : 'The 2 meter amateur radio band is a portion of the VHF radio spectrum, comprising frequencies stretching from 144.000 to 146.000 MHz ' so a set that covers the range 108 - 146 would cover both bands would it not?
  16. Im a noob to paramotoring but have had ppl and flown gliders. Im a little confused about which radio to buy, im told that 2m is the one that most PPG pilots use to contact each other in the air, however the airlaw section on this site says that its illegal to use it in the air. Airband makes sense if i want to fly into my local microlight or gliding club, and i have a licence because of my old ppl. Im considering getting a radio that does both but am not sure.... any help is welcome!

  18. That AV8ER bloke lives near you, a bunch of lads were flying from a field on the road between banbury and dav
  19. Hi all, Ive been offered one of these bad boys and am wondering what people think about them, ive been told that they are awkward to wear and feel like they are hanging low plus you cant walk backwards in it. Are they any good or not? im 6' tall with a wide chest (told i might not fit between the bars?) any help on the subject would be appreciated
  20. Hi all, Im after a simonini powered paramotor with a minimum 120cm prop, any condition or location considered. Would also consider a synthesis wing if anyone has one for sale, prefer low hours on this one! call me on 07743899090 cash waiting
