  1. Plastic ain't that porous, they make an awful lot fuel tanks out of it. :-)

My plastic jerry can ( like everyone else's ) is also UN approved for the movement of pretty much all dangerous goods. Very unlikely to leak liquid or vapour if used properly.

    WOW....

what a complete difference in reaction to the same topic that was posted on another uk ppg forum that I read yesterday...

the guys on that forum have a serious problem with this subject and it seems the bhpa in general...

I am new to this sport and don't know any of you on here or those guys on there but I can tell this is the place to be.

a much better, more relaxed, impartial and friendly vibe on here than on there.

I don't know what their issues are but after lurking on there for a while and reading through some historic posts it seems its not a one-off, they have serious issues with anyone that dare not conform and say 'yes master'

god help any poor sucker who gets trained by them and brainwashed by the Koresh type cult leader....

  3. Last note then :-)

    Morgy,

I'm not too sure but I think there is a soft drinks company or two that love to throw cash at extreme ( to the casual observer ) spectator sports.

I doubt they would sponsor a club event as it's not fully inclusive of the sport. But a national free for all ( spectators, tv coverage, advertising pay the bills ) would possibly get their notice.

Obviously this ain't going to happen happen in a month, but its an idea for the next one.

  4. PilotnoteZ.

Try and lose the persecution complex. Re- read the posts with at least a lighthearted sense of humour.

And Try not to miss out the smiley faces after a bit of banter.

Life's too short, and I've not got time to read through your last post again.

And as far as my posts go,

£120 to join the BHPA plus £30 entry fee for the competition?

So yes in my case ( and many others ) a BMAA run competition would most probably be a fair bit Cheeper. Which is a shame as id jump at the chance to hoon around for a while.

BHPA refusing to issue a trophy to non members!!!!

Even my Mrs understands the subtle humour of English banter

And she's as thick as a whale omelette.

The last bit about a rule book.

    See above.

  5. "If you don't like the BHPA for what ever reason don't enter simple...."

I have nothing against the BHPA as an organisation ( although I have in the past vented my spleen at " members " portraying membership as an almost legal requirement ) I have no reason to join, and I choose not to.

The point still remains. If you want to trawl the UK for flying talent , to represent the UK in later competitions, or to raise the sports profile.

Then it needs to be open to all pilots.

And quite possibly, just the type of pilots who choose not to fly by the rules laid down in the BHPA handbook.

  6. My last post sounded a bit anti BHPA , me bad :-(

But would it not be better for the profile of the sport as a whole and therefore also the BHPA . If the competition was free to enter for all uk flyers .

That way the best pilots in the uk would be able to compete and the best pilot in the uk would win.

If required the BHPA can refuse to issue a trophy to the winner if they are not a member. But we will all know who the best pilot is :-)

  7. I think it's half a solution :-/

EFI in this context is just a better carb that can or should tune itself to the conditions of flight, altitude temp etc

It still requires crankcase pressure and the tuned pipe to get the mixture in. Which is where we loose efficiency as Gordon pointed out so beautifully :-)

What we need is direct injection as used on modern Diesel engines.

Squirt a metered amount of fuel in after the piston has passed the exhaust port and bobs your mothers brother.
