There are loads of flyable windows, I often find an hour at night on days that have been crap but you really have to be looking for them and jump when they appear. On the whole I have had 60 flights this year but only one in the last 3 weeks  total pants. But Tuesday is lurking as a good morning to get out.

what I’m trying to say is although the weather can be crap if you look hard enough and monitor what’s going on there is loads of flying to be done. But at the same time occasionally you won’t get any for a while. On average I would say 2 days a week for me

maybe sales wank but metal fatigue is a thing

I would be more concerned about the locking mech wearing through use rather than one snapping

Best bet would be to change them every 5 years as per manufacturer specs. I wonder how many are in the air that are older?

Just found this thread, really interesting info. I have been thinking about this for a while as I fly from a semi busy microlight aerodrome.

It’s a funny one in the world of Paramotoring. It seems that Most people (that I have spoken too) think around 100ish hours is the time to get rid and buy a new one, however they will go indefinitely with correct maintenance and replacement parts.

2 stroke engines do need more work than a 4 stroke and require parts replacing more often, but if done right and you want to keep the motor going there is nothing stopping you.

 I guess the big part is supply of the parts and as engines get older manufacturers may stop making what you need. The biggest part however is engine development with engines getting lighter, more power from smaller units, better fuel economy and so on.

I say if you are happy with the engine and can get the parts why not keep it going if you don’t feel the need for a new one.

I had an engine at the start that I was struggling with and ended up selling it on but that was mostly due to confidence issues early doors but now wish I had stuck with it but the metal block I was having made me move it on (fully declaring the issues I had with the motor)

I wanted to go to parafest this year mostly because I want to fly around north wales, but with the clash it will have to wait till next year. If I’m honest the music side of it puts me off the event. I want to fly during the day and get to bed early so I can get back out first thing in the morning

I’m exactly the same! Put me on a Paramotor and I’m quite happy at 4000ft but if I’m on a ledge or looking over a wall/safety rail at height I start sweating and go light headed. It is really odd!

That looks good! Here is how I did it

I bought the skyflar and it’s great! I have it fitted to a V3, I drilled a hole in one section and bolted it straight on. I keep getting told it is very visible during most of the day.

the reality is if the other pilots are looking for other aircraft it will be visible.

Cool. I think this helps a bit as well. I have found it hard (and can’t be the only one) to take off at the bore site due to people flying around and around the take off area

Thanks Mark, fuel burn is not something I have been paying to much attention to at the moment I know that I am roughly using 5ltr per hour but in the next month or so it is something I need to start working out more accurately. Also as you say work out the fuel for different trim settings.

Recently I have just been trying to extend my comfort with turbulence and In doing so giving myself more flying windows. 

Saying that I shouldn’t need to as I now know half trims is 32mph

I had an interesting flight tonight. On the upper limit of my comfort which i am kinda trying to expand ATM,  reverse launch and up I went No steps just throttle.

Forecast was 8-15mph which on the ground was probably a little low, after kiting the wing for a while I decided it was strong but not gusting.

going by my gps I was doing 12mph into wind level flight with trims half out.

when I turned around still level flight and trims half out I was doing 52mph quite funny over taking cars below me on the country roads. 

so My question is, to calculate the speed of the wind you are flying is it as simple as taking away the into wind speed from the  away from wind speed and dividing what’s left by 2 or is there a wing dynamic or something to take into calculation?

Hi guys, i was wondering how many people in the group fly regularly?

Also if anyone was interested to come out for a fly? If the weather is good I will be at very least trying to get out of work and normally already up.

I know of and have been flying with 2 from the area but they are currently not flying.

I have a sky flar, I have had good reports from 2 others in the air and several on the ground as far as how visible it is.

Hi, I’m having a clear out at work and have a mount I made for my V3 that I never ended up using because I figured a van was gonna be better in the long run. 

If it is any use to anybody you are more than welcome to it, it has been sat outside for a while so has surface rust and could do will a clean and a paint. It uses a bac-rak mount for the tow ball. I tried to add photos but they are too large.

im in Buckingham MK18 and it would be collection only.
