Well done for not harming yourself and providing an opportunity for everyone to learn.
Engine off
Spot landing practice is the answer.
It vexes me that I always forget to do this. when on a usual flying day place a big marker in yr field cut your engine and from height try and land exactly in that spot.
I believe the sharpish S-bends on approach will loose you height fast if needed, still allowing you to land on a spot.
you did well to remember the trimmers that makes a big difference, 300 foot is not very long to establish a circuit and landing.
but I just want to relay a small story about bikers fixated on corners to illustrate the problem.
Scott and Justin two GSXR rider friends of mine on a trackday / tour of France, they were following a bird on a bike quite close going round a corner.
The lady in question went straight on through a farmers field on the other side of the road, as she could not make the corner at about 50 mph.
swiftly followed by Scott and Justin, straight on top of her.
rather than go round the corner they just followed her crash, fixated on her bottom. way to go!
quite funny I thought, especially as they had it on video!!
go well

a bit late to the party, Simon W is dead right about the fusion.
to sum up why you may need experience
please read about these bad situations
I do like this site, it will mentally prepare you for anything.
A fusion will react worse than a begginners wing in any given situation, when it all goes wrong above you.
I hope this helps someone

Saturday Morning Spanker Alert.
scramble
looks like a lovely morning, if anyones about at 9am ?
if you do fly remember to watch the height (top to bottom) of the fluffy clouds and if in doubt dont fly over the middle of the day
as its a NW wind which is Paragliders XC delight usually + spring = danger
Kind Regards
Simon

looks a bit tooo windy in OXON, but the forecast looks OK on Saturday at Lyneham
anyone around?

Congratulations that is some flight

Hello
great attempt at the web idea, well done. Also how very British, slipping over in the mud. Lovely, its so reverse Hollywood.

Forgive my ignorance as I am new to this but isn't a wing more stable (safe) with a higher loading on it?
Hi Sam
just as a point of note the biggest safety feature is your ability to understand and choose the correct weather to fly in.
Spring is the time of year where the most accidents happen, this will all be covered in your training
best of luck with your choice.

Flyable on Saturday ?
Maybe - Maybe not, various forecasts offer hope.
Sunday looks too windy.
Is anyone around or up for it.
Methinks the Farmer will say his grass is too damp.
Hence we should perhaps head south towards Wiltshire ?
Perhaps Blewbury?

Hi Chris,
using the trimmers turns the sink-rate from about 1.1M/s (Trimmers in), to about 3 M/s down (Trimmers out) - depending on the wing
Kind Regards
Simon

Hi Chris
Trimmers make it both fast and inefficient.
so hands down 10 inches is Minimum sink
hands up is best glide.
Here comes the complex bit.
if you want to go as far as you can down wind you want to fly at minimum sink = less throttle. And the wind will carry you
If you fly into wind you will no doubt need trimmers out to maximize distance as, flying into wind you may be sat still over the ground, at best glide or min sink
try to google speed to fly.
have fun
-
wowow
Totally awesome,
please do tell,
what were the trimmers and how big an effect do they have also when do you use them?
how is the speed range affected
do you fly with a reserve - condition from the wife
I would love to do that

Hello - Happy New year
XC weather looks favorable tomorrow, is anyone up for a fly at shabbington?

not speaking about anything other than chinese scooters currently on the market in the uk
they look ok they drive out the door ok.
they have a very high return rate, the quality is the worst on the market of any scooter.
if you can avoid and spend more money on something else you won't regret it.
This info is provided from a chain of 4 scooter shops in London, who fix anything and sell Italian. To me it represents a considered opinion.
good luck if you go Chinese

Holy smoke Rob,
you are truly living every day like its your last.
I hope everyone is well at the end

Its a good tip thanks. I checked, thanks for the warning.
luckily the cage is overly large.
Looking forward to a flight soon. All working again

I like the look of the male model sporting the suit

I have added three washer to the right hand side engine mounts (looking from the rear) to stop me turning right .
I will let you know if it works
or its
-
well well well, As I am a bit bored I thought I would update you with the latest cascade of self infliction.
Thanks for the part fishing website I now have the o mounts.
whilst undoing the old ones by adding heat, the first came off.
The next one needed professional help and off to a garage where a new thread was needed.
I took the opportunity of adding three washers to the right hand side mounts (looking at the back) to persuade the machine to stop turning right. I hope its enough After all that is all I was trying to do in the first place.
Else its asymmetric trim positions with the left trimmers half in with the right fully open to keep going straight.
So all looking good until the starter motor broke immediately after it was put back together on the mini 2 plus.
I think it was due to the heat being added earlier as it is nearby
Does anyone know where or how much a new starter motor is for those machines?
If they are too much I will just get it rewired.
kind regards
Simon
Air bound shortly - just need a brave prop swinger (Pete!?@:{}:>)
its lucky this isn't a sex forum otherwise I would wonder what a prop swinger was
-
whilst on the subject of flycastelluccio.
I have the smn 122, which can take a 130 prop.
They have gone bust as some may know. However they share the frame or did with the flyproducts.
I notice flyproducts do a 16 Litre fuel tank.
does anyone know if it will fit?
thanks
Simon
Do you have an Iphone?
