  2. Hey Leoibb, Welcome to the Paramotor club! I fly around the Halifax area and run the Yorkshire Branch of the Paramotor club, and i'm looking for more members to join me. This is a great place to meet and chat to like minded people.
  3. I'm now using an airband radio, Icom IC-A6, this is because i live within 5 miles of a couple of air fields and a couple of people own helicopters within 1 mile of me (they have them in their back garden, posh gits)
  4. What's the nearest city then i know how far i/we have to drive? We're going to the Airkix wind tunnel some where around the end of May so i may make a slight detour to show you how we do quizzes in Yorkshire and take all the prizes (note i said take and not win? ) Let me know
  5. New content pages after the weekend then?
  6. My guess is you're from India? Am i right?
  7. Cheers, sorry! didn't realise you waited till you got all the orders in
  8. Hi peeps, Trim? I have posted this topic because trim on a wing is very new to me and i won't be on my own. It will also make good reading for up and coming Paramotorists (that's if anyone has the answers) So, can anyone have a go at explaining what trim is and does, the advantages and disadvantages, the pros and cons, the do's and don'ts, here are a few questions to set you all off. What is trim? How does it work? Why put (manufacture) trim on to a Paramotor wing? Do Paraglider wings have trims? What about wind speed, does this effect the choice of settings on landing or take-off? Can you alter the trim settings whilst in mid-air or even while turning? What would happen if you did alter it in mid air but only managed to alter one side? Anyone want to have a bash
  9. Hi Simon, The dvd i ordered 3 months ago(ish) is it lost in the post or is my neighbour sat watching it
  10. Hi Simon, How much and whats there spec.? I may require 2 or 3, any discount for bulk buying?
  11. Hi Terry, Yes, the restaurant is next to the flying ground which is in a little village called Stainland, Todmorden is only a few minutes flight away in fact i can see Tod once i get in the air. Not sure if this will help: Google Earth Latitude: 53°40'30.30"N Longitude: 1°52'58.07"W My sister (Lynn) is a keen organiser of events and has close links with the local newspaper and council so shouldn't be much of a problem to set something up however large or small you want your welcome party, so whether it be a splash and dash or an overnight stop we should be able to help you sort something out up here. Let me know what you think.
  12. Hi all, Do we know if the Tip to Tip 2008 is stopping off at the Yorkshire Branch yet? My sister's on about setting up a soup kitchen and the local restaurant wants to get the marquees out with a welcome party and buffet!
  13. Hi Colin, Welcome to the Yorkshire Branch and the sport of Paramotoring. I'm not too familiar with Paul Haxby or AXB Sports but from what i've heard you'll be in safe professional hands. I Hope you take up the sport, you won't regret it, out of the 18 different extreme sports i do i love Paramotoring the most! And if you're into photography what a fantastic way to get some great arial photographs of some of the best views in the UK.
  14. YouTube YouTube all i hear is YouTube, what about MayContainNuts.com? Create a profile and get your videos on there. (please ) We could do with loads more Paramotoring pictures in the Paramotor gallery too, anybody got any worth putting on? http://www.MayContainNuts.com Thanks guys
  15. Hi Francis, Not sure what i expect to happen, just thought it would be a good thread to start and would be of interest to everyone especially newbies. It would also be good to learn what the new wings are capable of, I've flown with an arcus swing for 4 years now and i'm about to invest in a Dudek Reaction, i've never flown with a speed bar either on my paramotor so i've just bought one and can't wait to try it out. I went out once and the upper winds at about 1000 feet where strong enough for me not to be able to make any ground i was just hanging there that's when i thought i need a speed bar, took me ages to get back down!
  16. What are safe wind speeds to fly in? I had an Arcus Swing (still have it) Paraglider which i used for Paramotoring, it was manufactured back in 2002. In zero wind it took some getting off the ground in fact it was a nightmare, i spent most of the time fighting a front tuck or chewing on the grass with a face plant, now in a 5 to 10 MPH breeze it was a piece of cake, anything over 15MPH and i'd be lucky too survive the take off and flying without a speed bar, well, flying backwards gives a whole new meaning to the sport! Note: most of the above was probably due to bad instruction. (mentioning no names) So, what are safe wind speeds for flying in with the new canopies (wings) with and without speed bar using both Paragliding and Paramotoring wings for Paramotoring? The technology in the sport has advanced rapidly especially with wings, are we safe to fly in 50MPH wind yet!?
  17. Hi, You'll be lucky to get a motor and wing for that price, you should be able to pick up a new wing though or a second hand motor. I got a second hand Wing (3 years old) and a second hand motor (1 hour flying time) for £2500 I wouldn't have thought you could pick up anything decent for less than £2000
  18. Yes, correct it costs him £500 to fill up and it does 8 miles to the gallon and that's on a long run, it's 5 to the gallon around town, no worries with parking though
  19. Ya, one or two and i think that's the lot
  20. You can buy your own road legal tank for £10,000, a bloke i know bought one and drives it around his huge garden, he drives it to the local agricultural show every year and gets some great looks when parked at the traffic lights It's on my toys to buy list when iv'e saved up
  21. If i was a hero every time i crashed i'd be a super hero by now!
  22. Hi Dave, Welcome to the paramotor club and most importantly welcome to the Yorkshire Branch, you could be the second Yorkshire member I live in the Halifax area and have a few fantastic places to fly from so your quite welcome to come over and fly with me sometime.
  23. Hi Martin, Thanks for that, i was amazed at the unbelievable quality with no signs of vibration in the picture and you can more or less fasten or stick them anywhere. I'll be ordering a couple of those in the near future, looks like i've found the answer to my question. If anyone's looking for great video equipment that will put up with the vibration, noise and electrical interference check out http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/index.html Thanks everyone for your input.
