  1. Hi Mark Which side of Dartmoor are you.? I am 5 miles off the moor Near cheriton bishop. Do you have a flying site? Might take a flight this morning. Very still out there now (and cold) Just popped out for firewood. Dave
  2. Simon Although not on the LE JOG run i could get to Dartmoor at the drop of a hat. And I do like to make an impact. I might even be able to get into the air if I aint had one pie too many. Put my name down if you think it appropriate. Dont forget to send me sort code and acc. no. so i can contribute. david govier
  3. Good to meet you and the guys too Simon. Wish I'd stayed a bit longer really. Good learning curve whilst amongst you all. More people should learn first aid. I decided that 2 of us from the farm will do a course for the work environment Regards Dave

    Fund raising.

Hi Simon I know you boys are going to make a fair effort to achieve a successful trip so I'll match that £ 100 donation for a good cause. If there is a bank account send me the number and sort code by email and will pay by BACS tomorrow. Only one condition. Make sure that photo of big Rich (Whitters) and myself dont get out..! Dave
  5. Went up to Dartmoor, to see the Tip to Tip guys, and it was blowing hard. Dont think they will be gettin any wings out but they might all qualify as paramedics. Dave
  6. I would've landed with you if I hadn't got burnt wires..!! I think you'll get on ok with the Parajet, especially with the larger prop big fella. I flew both with Skyschool and it seemed like a usefull unit. Gilo's engineering has to be admired. Windy for flying but you guys going for a beer at the Warren if grounded? dave
  7. Rich I haven't yet but you know how slow us farmers are. A shed full of Flat-tops would be a better bet than my pension plan for sure. You could do worse than have one I reckon. The neighbours said I was mad to go Organic farming...!!
  8. Pete That made me laugh so much a tear rolled down my cheek. Good luck with your Simo. At your weight thats gonna blast you around like a goodun. Hope ya wings not too big mate. Did you downsize? dave
  9. Hi Guys Anyone on the brink of buying a Flat-Top? Give me a ring or text 07954313080. I have a plan. Dave Govier
  10. thanks Vn23b The site you gave me didn't work but I googled a bit and found your Firefox extreme has been replaced by the vanquish, with a single pickup but double ear tubes. I've not used those before but it does say the Vanquish has a socket so you can plug in your own peltor system if desired Dave Govier
  11. Richard If I'm not mistaken, you included 4 and 1/3rd of a litre per hour consumption figure in the list of good points. That's very little less than my Walkerjet is using with it's Fly 200 engine which would give you the climb rate you deserve ( cos you same weight as me ) Drop in with yer wing and give it a whirl before you commit. Yer not very likely to break me prop either. (I hope) Dave Govier
  12. Hello everyone I wonder if anyone could tell me which is the best throat mic to buy. I only need the mic, rather than a full headset, because I intend using the peltors on my existing helmet so I'll just cut the wires and scrap the stalk mic and join in the new throat mic. Also, do you know if the two pin on the kenwood is the same as the two pin jack on the Allinco 193 ? I'd thank anyone with usefull information Dave govier
  13. Hi Simon How many farmers do you know who wouldn't be partial to a little discount? Watching this space (avidly!) Dave ps. Talk to Dan if your Lands End to JOG trip neccessitates a refuelling stop in Mid Devon. My farm is one that he would be able to get you into safely and there's a sock up there
  14. Hi Pete Just cos I fluked a jammy pass dont mean to say I'm suddenly skillful enough to fly a faster wing. I'm still scared coming in to land at 28 mph. Tried a short flight just ahead of the coldfront today but didn't like it much and landed within 5 mins. Perfect landing for a change. Genie will do for now but fancy a Sky Atis 2 for hill and motor. Dave
  15. I love your eternal optimism Whitters. Passed the SPHG exam 86%. Hope the sun shines on the brainy ones too !!!
  16. Norman speaking as a mere farmer, if the super markets here were to buy in and hang the meat for a bit longer, you would have the same desirable tender meat to chose from here.Sadly, profit comes before quality. Dave
  17. I can relate to most of everyones reasons for paramotoring. I started flying last Feb but did procrastinate for many years before taking my first hill flights. I owned a wing in 1992 but it wouldn't lift me. Flew one tandem flight in Austrian mountains in 1997 then lessons finally began in 2006 (June) when I got a computer put online and emailed a good instructor. He rang the next day and gave me no choice. Within 4 months he was teaching me in the French Alps. Wow. That was all great but I work a 60 hour week on the farm and there aren't any free-flying sites on it. Microlights were considered but paramotors are just SO convenient. I just stop work and go. Half an hour and bingo. Looking down on a farm where I have bled and sweat for 28 years floats my boat. Nice to spy on the neighbours too. Whilst I kicked the Poplar tree by my house today my brother was sending his miniature helicopter up to meet me. You cant do that with any other form of flying. Dave
  18. Hi Mike Can I be nosey Mike. What is your bodyweight and how do you like that wing of yours? I think a Synth would be my next wing but not sure what size yet. I weigh just over 100 kg (16 stone) Dave
  19. Hi Simon I had the same trouble with a unit purchased from ebay. Asked the seller if he would swap unit for the correct one and he wouldn't cos he had none. Annoying if he's still doing it because I told him they were no good for 2 stroke motors. Consequently, my little lad now has a tach on his 4 stroke quad, which works fine, but will have to remove cos he's screaming the nads off it. You can get the right one direct from the importer. Search for the website and I'm sure you'll find it. good luck Dave
  20. Hi Terry The Flat-top is basically a USA built unit which took it's roots from a Walkerjet, which is what I fly. The design seems to have a strong emphasis on safety. I think the web site is rpmppg .com if you want to know more. I might have one but would like to speak to someone over here who has flown one. I am aware of Mr. Schanze. I am headstrong too and very capable of gathering info from many sources then drawing my own conclusions. Thanks for all advice though. You can't be too carefull. Dave
  21. Hi everyone Anyone tried ,or knows anyone else who has, a Flat-top paramotor with the Simmonini 200 cc engine? Sounds like they have alot going for them but I've only heard one persons opinion, apart from the guy who makes them. Are there any in the UK yet? Dave
