  1. I have a 6 berth motorhome that I've been hiring out privately for some time now. When it's not on hire I often use it myself to explore different areas of Scotland for flying and it makes a fantastic mobile base for a flying break. If anyone is interested in hiring it for a weekend or longer and seeing what Scotland has to offer the Paramotor pilot, check out the website I've set up at http://www.tourscotlandbymotorhome.com/13501.html or get in touch via the forum. Happy Flying.
  2. What very depressing posts about a really nice piece of video and some great flying skills.
  3. I owned an Adventure A3+ for a couple of years, just selling it a few weeks ago. The engine was very reliable, easy to access and work with to sort any little wear and tear issues and plenty powerful for my 95kg payload. For me, the downside was that whenever I had to deal with the company I was continually having to go through a UK distributor (who may not be in place now) and it felt like Chinese whispers as I struggled to get the correct parts delivered and then found them very expensive - over £100 for a new battery!! I don't think I'd buy one again for these reasons.
  4. [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]Too windy this weekend but managed to get a nice flight over North Berwick with the GoPro last Saturday.
  5. I got out of the house by 6am this morning to get in the air before the wind starting to pick up. It was a great move as I was able to get out over Tantallon Castle to the east of Edinburgh. [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]
  6. I echo the other comments in this thread from my own experiences. The after sales service I've had since buying the Cyclone in January has been very very good. Queries answered quickly even at weekends and a couple of very informative visits to the factory.
  7. Every hobby is an excuse to buy more gadgets as far as I'm concerned. - Anemometer, I use mine all the time to check gust speeds - Mirror to check fuel in flight - Flask for the car when you land on a freezing cold day - Top quality pair of gloves and optionally electric warmers - Dashboard to store and present your GPS etc. - Digital SLR camera for top quality photos - Tool box containing spark plug spanner, insulating tape, tools for the motor Good Luck!
  8. Good point on not losing fingers guys - cheers.
  9. Since reading the post on bathroom scales I've been wanting to have a go and this mornings dodgy weather gave the perfect opportunity to test my Adventure A3+ against the new Parajet Cyclone 294. I weighed myself on the scales before hand and they appeared to be weighing between 5-10kg light so bearing this and the many other inaccuracies of the test, I was more interested in the difference of the engines than any accurate reading. I wasn't disappointed by the results. I always thought the A3+ was quite a powerful machine getting my (95kg) off the ground successfully for the last 2 years but the Cyclone is something else. 10. I live up near Edinburgh and took delivery of a Cyclone 294 in January which was about a month later than the original intended delivery date. You're correct that it's quite a heavy machine, but comparable with anything that comes close to the same level of thrust. Here's a video I took from the Cyclone a couple of weeks ago [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo].The power is fantastic and I think offsets the weight somewhat as on a forward, low wind launch it can really help you get off the ground. You'll find a very good, impartial review by Jeff Goin on footflyer.com which I think rings very true. What this doesn't cover however is the manufacturer support which has been exceptional for me thus far. I owned an Adventure A3+ before and any interaction with the manufacturer in France even through a UK distributor was an absolute nightmare leaving me feeling that I was largely on my own. Parts were very expensive also. My experience with Paraject so far has been completely the opposite - I've visited the factory several times and had queries answered by email and text very quickly. Obviously I'm a bit of an early adopter so they'll be keen to ensure I'm happy at this early stage but that's how it is. Hope this is helpful.
  11. I've just tried the 30 day free download of Cyberlinks Director 8 and it works like a treat with the HD files where Sony Vegas failed to render. Looks very functional and easy to use as well.
  12. I've had a similar experience and you're right that this is almost certainly the PC and nothing to do with the camera. I've tried a few different packages and even flattenered my laptop with a clean Windows 7 install to view and edit with the following result. My laptop is a reasonable spec but it's no high power graphics machine. 1. Sony Vegas Movie Studio which normally very good for video editing runs like a dog with HD footage 2. Windows Live Movie Maker will play the clips just fine and although a bit basic can be used to edit, add music and publish quite effectively (see )3. Ultra Video Splitter from aone software (http://www.aone-soft.com/splitter.htm) is fantastic at slicing the huge 3Gb+ files that the GoPro produced into manageable chunks. You can have it slice by size, time or ratio and it rattles through them very quickly. It also seems very capable of playing the video smoothly where Sony Vegas failed allbeit in a small window. Hope this helps, Alan.
  13. I haven;t had any drop-out yet Alan but will bear that in mind. I must get myself some kind of dashboard console that I can attach the GPS and other things to.
  14. There's a very thorough review on footflyer.com which rings true with my findings and covers it more comprehensively than I could. Check it out.
  15. [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]Great flight over by Loch Lomond last Sunday in near nil wind, bright sunshine and the remnants of the winter snow.
  16. I've not done any detailed measurement of the fuel consumption so my anecdotal feedback right now would be that it's about the same as my of solo engine. I'll try to do something a bit more scientific the next time I get in the air.
  17. Really enjoying the cyclone thanks Alan. Build quality, power and thus far reliability have been great. Just can't wait for a warmish day to get some longer/higher flights done - today would have been ideal but too busy at work.
  18. Lovin' your work Mike. What resolution are you running the GoPro on and what are you using to do your video editing? I've tried using Sony video editor but it runs like a dog on my laptop. Cheers.
  19. I took delivery of a Cyclone 294 in January and have been very impressed thus far. The unit's at the heavier end of the market but the build quality and power are exceptional making it a pleasure to fly. There a good, comprehensive review on www.footflyer.com that goes much further. I'd be happy to answer any questions about my experiences with it. I have no affiliation with Parajet by the way.
  20. The website seems to be down at the moment - hope not for too long as I'd like to see the 8.5k video.
  21. I'd be happy to help set up a club. I'm based in Linlithgow and know another 3 pilots within a 30 mile drive of my house.
  22. I took delivery of a Cyclone 294 in January after flying an Adventure A3 plus for just over two years. I've had 3 days flying so far and have absolutely no complaints. The power is awesome but is delivered very smoothly and hasn't caused me any real concerns thus far although I am aware of the potential risk and are tentatively working my way through the range. The review by Jeff Goin on footflyer last week pretty much sums up what I've found but far more comprehensively than I could. If anyone's wants to know more I'd be happy to try and help.
