stuartasutherland
Hi, after a nice calm flight this morning I noticed these cracks getting bigger. My question (before I start digging) is - is it just the varnish cracking or worse? What would you do? Many thanks
clivefreeman
Thats definitely just the varnish, if it was the wood you would see it through the varnish. You can always rub it down a bit if your worried and re varnish it .. Its also going against the grain if it were splitting it would be with it >> Edited December 10, 2011 by Guest
stuartasutherland
Thanks Clive, I'll maybe have a wee look. Just glad to get out today - it's been so windy for so long.

stuartasutherland
Cheers Guys, a bit of strategic sanding confirms your wisdom. Might get up tomorrow too, unbelievable, you wait 2 months for a flying window and two come along at once!
t_andrews
That's a good indicator of: 1) how thick that varnish is 2) Just how much and how close to the blade root your prop flexs BTW, I'd fill those cracks with wax at least to keep ambient humidity/moisture out.
