Tobago
Hello, I'm new to PPG but have 350hours single engine aircraft experience and I also have some 750 parachute jumps. So picked up powered trike flying quite easily after 1 hour instruction. On the continent it's easy to find a field for FREE take-off and landing and I wanted to know if that's possible here - perhaps it's a closely guarded secret? I live in Ascot (under the Heathrow TMA) and would like to find nearby sites. Thank you and Happy flying. Tobago
fanman
Not strictly true, it depends which country you are in. Germany only permits launch and landing from licensed airfields. All the info is here in the archives if you're prepared to look.
togsie
HI Tobago, I live in Bracknell, I'm afraid you need to travel west, to the Binfield area and almost to the M4 before you're clear of the Heathrow no fly. I do know of a field in that area and once I've established a good relationship with the guy that owns it I'll share the info. I'm not feeling quite as lonely in Bracknell anymore; I've met another guy from Bracknell and now you. A few more and we can start a club Regards. Ken. Tobago
Thanks Ken, That's very useful. I gather I'd need to travel west down the M4 or the M3 to at least remain clear of the Heathrow CTR. Perhaps we can meet up once the weather is better. Happy flying. Tobago
