frazer1981
Does anyone use a watch, similar to the Suunto range thats a reliable cheap backup providing compass and altimeter etc? I will be getting a Garmin vista hcx soon but i am going to be getting a watch for flying and wanted something to incorporate these things at the same time? Any ideas? edwardc
Hi Frazier I have a Suunto that I have been using but I was given one of the £24-95 'Ski Pro'watches that are sold in LIDL stores. I am very impressed and it is more than adequate for keeping an eye on your altitude which you can set at take off or ASL. Compass is good too and it tells the time! mike1714
The altimeter watch thang springs up every now and then and is covered in other threads. I have the Lidl cheapy and it works a treat I dont think the offer of these is still available? I have the Garmin etrex hcx and it is an outstanding piece of compact kit. I have a velcro strap which I have on my left leg and have it mounted there................only problem, have to use my left hand............right hand is a bit busy as you would well know!!!!! For clarification - I do mean holding the throttle and brake line that is!!!!!!!!!!! Mike
