David Knaggs
Hi everyone , I live in Newcastle / Northumberland looking for training , local clubs etc , started looking last year but work got in the way, my goal is to get this sorted this year, Hopefully i can find people in the Newcastle area that fly and can share knowledge etc , I don't think there's anywhere up here for training though ? Any info will be most welcome cheers David
AndyB
Hi, nearest training is York. I went abroad so I could get trained quickly and in nice weather, it took me 2 separate 1 weeks and I then flew on my own the following week. There are very few fliers up here. There are a couple near Newcastle and me near Middlesbrough. I am retired and fly whenever the weather lets me. Andy

AndyB
I don't know where they fly, but the Newcastle ATZ prevents most areas. The beaches you mention are a good place, outside the ATZ (well up to 1500 feet possible) but they get too busy with dog walkers much of the time. David Knaggs
Early morning start at beach might work , look like most of the coast is out of ATZ , if not there are a couple of farms over at chopwell that might let me take off there
AndyB
I fly off Redcar beach a lot. It is fine when the temp is below about 14, just not so many people out and I can fly any time. In the summer I have to land before 9.30...otherwise the beach is full of picnic blankets and families!
