  1. Only one injury then. X-ray shows no broken bones but I'll be hobbling for several days I reckon. Does anyone else have trouble with the lumpy surface of the field? It's ok for experienced pilots but students are running into the really lumpy areas. Simon, you must know a friendly local farmer that can skim the surface for you (even if it means giving him a sweetener).
  2. I'll be there, assuming all full member students are welcome.

Have a look at Tracey Tarr's idea in the paramotormag (Feb/Mar 2009 edition), it's another option to consider.
  4. I'm just a newbie, but IMHO that guy should be sitting in his car having a cup of tea waiting for the wind to drop, right?
  5. If the forecast gets better for Sunday, I'll be there. Looks gusty at the moment. Cheers
  6. I'm also feeling a bit left out (not really)....full member, but no star
  7. I will be there Saturday, if that's ok Simon, weather permitting.
  8. I'd like to add my support. If this idea grows then I would be interested in exploring the idea of shared ownership. Anyone else interested?
  9. My first day of training yesterday and I'm hooked. I've done all the reading/researching but it all becomes more real when you put a harness on for the first time. Thanks to Simon for being patient with me, it can only get better mate. Thanks also to Dave (Outcast) and Colin for the help and encouragement. Special thanks to Colin for helping to rescue my lines from the tree that jumped out at me! Can't wait for day 2.
  10. So, to clarify: You returned the helmet because it's a bit small, what about the ground handling harness, any good?
  11. Hi Pete, Brilliant! Don't know why I didn't look on the PMC shop. I've been looking for paragliding harnesses, didn't think about kitesurfing stuff, thanks. Do you know if the PMC shop is active while Simon is away? Cheers
  12. I am trying to get some kit together so that I can practice ground handling once my training starts in March. I got a wing easy (lots on ebay), but finding a harness is not so easy. I can only find this http://www.paramotorsuk.co.uk/paypal8.asp Is this my only option for a ground handling harness and what do you guys think of it? I'd really appreciate your thoughts (a choice of 1 doesn't feel right). Thanks
  13. Hi Lloyd, I don't expect my training to start until March as SimonW is away on the Skycar expo until then. Let's keep in touch and we can share the driving. Cheers
  14. Hi All, There is a ground handling wing on ebay for 100pounds (search for "paramotor wing"). Sorry, I can't get this post to accept HTML, I just get an error message, is there a way to fix that? Anyway, it looks like a bargain and a good opportunity to get lots of ground handling training. I am a newbie, so I have 2 questions before I dive in and buy it. Firstly, is this going to give me good ground handling practice for the real thing? Secondly, does anyone recognize this as one of those wings that was stolen recently? I don't want to buy knock-off gear. I'd really appreciate your comments. Thanks [/img]
  15. Good luck to Simon on the Skycar Expedition, hope all goes well and you return safely. Cheers
  16. Looks more like heat damage to me, it appears to be melted locally. So, is it fuel tank and exhaust silencer? The black markings look suspiciously sooty, maybe.
  17. Hi All, I recently signed up to start training with Simon and I will be driving from Wimborne, so I'd be happy to share the driving with any of you guys in the Poole area (it's about an hour and a half from here). I travel for work quite a bit so I'm not always here but I'm itching to get started.
