    Lidl Specials

Lidl's bike stuff is cracking value for money. I bought a pair of riding trousers from them 3 years back and they are still perfectly watertight despite daily use but I've heared mixed reports about stuff like bike radios etc. The toque wrenches the supermarkets stock are generally the larger ones which wont be of much use on a paramotor, or will be kind of unwieldly for use in tight spaces. Lazer tools do a smaller torque wrench (for about 20 to 25 quid on ebay) which covers most of the PAP torque recommendations. I presume other motors will fall within the same ball park. It comes with a calibration certificate and they do a free recalibration service in six months time.
  2. I managed to completely ruin 3 cells on a new wing just ground handling on a pebble beach. A few pebbles managed to get into the wing. They were large enough to act as an abrasive when I brought the wing down onto the pebble beach, but not heavy enough to stop the wing from launching. I kept practicing for a couple of hours, blissfully unaware of what was going on. When I was packing up, I noticed literally hundreds of pin sized holes on 3 wing tip cells. Aerofix changed the 3 wing tip cells, and they did such a good job that I now cant identify which side was damaged. It was an expensive lesson for me. My ground handling is now shite from lack of regular practice. I'll have to bite the bullet and get started on it again.
  3. Do you drive all the way down to lambourne every weekend? I guess it's worth it if you have a good instructor. I drive down to Merthyr to do my training. I looked at training with an instructor a bit closer, but his insistence that he would only train students on one particular brand of motor which he was selling made it a non starter for me, as I couldn't afford new kit. The long drive is tiring, but I couldn't ask for a better instructor, so it is worth the pain for me. Have you had a look at the new BHPA syllabus? It is quite impressive. They have finally pulled their fingers out and sorted out Motorized flying. I hope the established free flying clubs do a similar job and set up flying fields, competitions etc instead of carrying on with this 'we have nothing to do with them' attitude.
  4. Hi Flapperpappa, We should meet up sometime. I am working this weekend. Maybe sometime next month if we are both free? Have you decided what gear you are going for? Are you teaching yourself or have you joined a school? Cheers, Nirmal.
  5. Thanks for the welcome guys. It would be great to get a local group going at some point in the near future .
  6. You would probably get much more interest if you made a low hangpoint (swing arm) version. The European market is almost completely dominated by these types of chassis.
  7. Hello everyone. I've just signed up to the forum. I am based in Chester, but I've done all my training in South Wales. I am close to completing my paramotoring CP (under the new BHPA syllabus). I've only got the written test left to complete. I fly a PAP Top 80 with an Airwave Wave wing. I now have about 10 hours of flight time under my belt. I am still searching for a suitable take off and landing field in Chester / North wales. My quest has been hampered by the fact that I live on the outer limits of the Broughton Airbus Plant's airspace. I would love to meet up with other forum members and fly with others. See you soon in the Cheshire or Welsh skies. Nirmal.
