Only for arboreal folk! ?

Don't worry about the Bore @admin (Simon W)... We all go for the flying and the social anyway, so just change it to 'Boreless Chasers' for the spring and we'll all be there! ??

Many engines will fail catastrophically if run without the prop on as they have no load preventing them from over revving. They can over rev in the first half second, just from fuel used to prime them.
Exactly. Better for it to over-rev without a prop on or whilst it’s on your back.

fuel
in Paramotors.
Fuel left in a plastic container breaks down the plastic which, not only turns your tank yellow, but it degrades the fuel. You can read lots about this online.
Buy a metal jerry can and a syphon (you can get a good/cheap one from Screwfix). Syphon your leftover fuel from your paramotor into the metal jerry can when packing your gear up. It takes about 2 minutes. Fuel lasts longer in a metal can because it does not get plastic contaminants over time.

@cas_whitmore some stats from RunwayHD...
-
We both used about 5L of fuel. Cruising with about half speed bar for me (Steve said he had nearly full speed bar on intermittently) and a slight cross-wind. It took about 30 mins to get there and about 25 to get back. Cruised around the Common for about 15-20 mins (and not in a gay way!! ?)

Nice one Andre / steve ' was that from Steve's place
Cheers @cas_whitmore ?? Yeah - pretty much from Steve’s place. Taking off in nil wind with 11L of fuel was pretty tough though! ?

Did a nice 55km XC flight with @steve342 today to Greenham Common. A bit cold, but super smooth. ?

I think I pay £40 a year for my RunwayHD subscription using the PARAMOTORCLUB discount code and it is totally worth it. Not only does it show you airspace, NOTAMS and other POIs, but the planning and navigation/waypoint function is priceless. Oh, and it logs all your flights in 3D GPS so you can view them on Google Earth. My only criticism is it’s only available on iOS. I have put an anti-glare filter on my iPhone 5S and it is daylight readable, but it would be amazing if you could get this app on a GPS-enabled Kobo eReader.
In summary, I have tried most of the in-Flight apps out there and RunwayHD just does everything you need it to.

I'd love to fly anywhere right now, but the bloody farmers keep ploughing their fields and planting crops. How dare they!!

I am having a connector fitted to the spare cable (the cable for the traditional radio) so I can detach it rather than having to tie it up. Not cheap but i don't like the idea of the cable getting free !
I just tuck it down the neck of my top. It's not going to get free.

Quite the difference in size!

Thanks Andre, is the GPS subscription covered by the Runway HD subscription?
Think I may have found the answer 'Maps are available right down to Ordnance Survey level and priced separately from the software and GPS subscription.'
How much is the GPS subscription?
Subscription information and details of packages here: http://users.airboxaero.com/Subscriptions.aspx
Go to the website and create yourself a login there. Once you have a free account, go to the subscriptions page and buy a subscription using the discount code Simon has posted above. Then, once you download the app, sign in with your username/password and the app will activate all of the subscriptions you have purchased (at the cheaper online price, as opposed to an in-app purchase ).

You need a data connection to download NOTAMS and to purchase/download charts. However, once this is done, you can effectively put your iPhone in ‘Flight Mode’ and it’ll still work using GPS.
Note: You do need to pay for a GPS subscription, so you still need to connect it to a data connection to renew this.

That'll work too!

No problems. Quickest way to remove GPS data from an image taken on your phone is to take a screen-shot of it on your phone and then upload the screenshot.
Good luck with the fields. ?
-
@Gregwatson I would beware of uploading Google pins of your newly found field. The blogs on this site are open for anyone to view. Someone could easily see your posted pin as an open invitation to use the field and then turn up with the intent of doing some low 'pylon style' flying around some trees. Before you know it, your friendly land owner will be kicking you off his land because someone else has ruined it for you. Also, beware of uploading photos taken with your phone. They will probably be geo-tagged and, therefore, pose the same risk.
Most people on here will offer you friendly advice about the fields you have found and PM you to ask if it is ok for them to fly at the field as well (if it is near them). However, unfortunately not everyone is as sincere in my experience and friendly landowners are hard to find!
PS: From the picture, looks pretty great to me.

I would assume it's all a matter of moderation and control. You wouldn't just go to full power any time you felt like it. Only under the right circumstances. And you wouldn't keep it going at full power until the point that it becomes dangerous. Those who use this beast smartly and reasonably should be just fine. I know it goes without saying, but I'm just trying to keep myself from being scared away from this thing.
I wonder if this will also have the option for a bi-prop instead of the tri-prop?
I did say ‘in the wrong hands’. ?

Thanks @cas_whitmore All sorted. ?

2 years warranty, so who cares? I just want one as soon as possible.
Edit: that climb in the video is sick!
Yeah - a lot of power for a steep climb. A few of these might end up in a climb/stall/dive/in-the-dirt scenario in the wrong hands!

Does anyone know where to buy some decent knotless netting for PPG net replacement? 40mm knotless. Tried a few places online, but they all seem to be the type of netting that is 'fluffy' (sticks to velcro) and therefore, not very durable.

Thanks Andre.
Why did you choose the Scarab over the seemingly-very-popular Solar X, and why the PM100 over a Bluetooth solution like the Sena units?
Greg
Tried Scarab and SolarX and Scarab was more comfortable (and cheaper). I use a 2m/4m radio and no need for Bluetooth (useless for anything other than tandem in my experience, due to short range and engine interference).
