  1. Hello - you !

were you the pilot flying over Shepreth , near Royston a few weeks ago, Just wondered as It would be good to meet up perhaps and Fly together

is there anyone flying near Cambridge Royston, or am I ... all by myself

    Simon from Fowlmere

  2. I put a test bailey hornet on my back,

    previously I have had

    simonini mini 2 plus

    a hirth monster

    moster 185

on my back testing the power

the bailey power was devastating, my knees started shaking, it felt a good 20% more powerful than anything else.

I simply could not hold the power leaning over, I had to hold the wall, even then it felt like giant haystack was crushing me into a wall.

    well done Paul :dive:

  3. The implication being that it is only thrust that matters. There is so much more to it than that. I fly a machine with relatively little thrust, about 60% of my T/Os are in nil wind. I am very happy with my motor............ask yourself why?

    Hi Christian,

Your technique for lift off is obviously good, well done! I am only trying to establish user experience of power to weight ratio.

You will on occasion come across some lift and enjoy the free ride up. However just outside the lift is sink.

when you are being drilled to the ground by sink and pull the throttle to full power, sometimes you wish you had more.

    Kind Regards

    Simon

  4. Good morning Gentlemen / Women

Whilst at the Summer flyin in Oxfordshire, I was speaking with Whitters about how happy he was with his Bailey V5.

I thought to myself he will never have enough thrust to launch.

Not only did he launch, worse still people were telling me he was climbing out with speed and vigor.

I call upon all you dealers / enthusiasts. Please can someone in central England. offer the use of their thrust rig to test thrust and then weight. We can then publish the results to the forum

I think my beast is a thrusty one :o , but who knows until its tested.

Do you know of anyone with the equipment, who may be willing to host, on an ongoing basis

Would it be portable (a flyin could be a good place for a start)

Its also worth testing the same machine belonging to different people, as it will highlight a poor setup

Ultimately this will make choosing your next machine easier

    Kind Regards

    Simon

  5. Hi all,

I'm about to finalize my order with Blackhawk. I'll be getting either the Standard Kestrel or the Kestrel Pro: http://blackhawkparamotor.com/blackhawk ... ararmotor/

I've spoken to Mike about "High Hang Points vs Low Hang Points with Weight Shift", and he is steering me in the direction of HHPs. A few other people I've talked to strongly prefer the low hang points with weight shift. It seems like some people hate high hang points, although I understand some prefer them.

Can you give me your opinion of which you prefer and why? I want to try to make the right decision for myself right off the bat. Thanks!

Just wondered are you buying direct from the USA, if so which engine? Also what is the price with import duty?

They have a new 175 CC motor out with fairly high claims on thrust. Is that the one your buying?

    Good luck

    Simon

  6. I agree, the risers are certified to the glider.

    but more interestingly

    @slapper

Did you once have a tank slapper?

are you hoping to get a slapper?

    or even better,

are you a slapper, looking for love.

sorry to get so excited over your name. its what we all dream of as men.

a lady who likes to say YES!! :acro::dive::coptor:

  7. As Simon Says

call them. I have flown out of Bampton. I called Brize ATC

    as follows

    ATC, standby -

ATC have you got an air band radio.

    me no

ATC - call before take off.

1st time I called we were 2 days into the Libya conflict. they gave permission to route out of the airspace east only.

next time I asked permission to fly less than or = 500 along the thames river

    lovely flight

    ATC - very helpful. 8)

my tip would be plan to stay away from the planes in circuit - ask for permission to do something and then make sure you do it, as you will be on Radar.

    Good luck

    Simon

  8. Good evening ladies and gentlemen,

Big Si and little Si are dusting off our wings this weekend and heading towards the coast at Lyme Regis.

Is there anywhere by the sea that we can fly please?

I am aware of the airspace. We hope to fly Saturday and Sunday if I can get in the air!

    pls send a txt to 07976 251318

    cheers Simon & Simon

  9. Maybe another approach is to find a good field from Google Earth, take a visual look on the ground to confirm it’s OK. Then take some nice photos of the field and surrounding area and then approach the farmer with the photos in your hand.

Then, a part of the conversation is ‘I could take more photos of your land on regular basis if you like…..”

    Tony

Why not start off with pics of his wife !!!:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

    I would think yr a stalker :lol::lol:
