  1. Agreed with above.

I contacted my local balloon flight company. They said the were happy to see us. Even offered me a free trip!

They liked the idea that I never went below or above them, and a couple of circuits with friendly waves and then shoot off was great.

Don't go anywhere near above them.

As said before, they can rise very fast and the release of hot air while they decend could colapse our wings.

  2. Hi Guys.

The link Simon posted to Ebay shows a Li-pol battery. (DEBEN TRACER LITHIUM POLYMER POWER PACK 12V 5Ah LIGHT)

These are great but need to be handled with care.

They can burst into flames if incorrectly charged.

Use only the charger provided. If you want to use this battery to start your paramotor, YOU MUST DISCONNECT THE CHARGING CIRCUIT.

In my opinion it is too low a voltage and only just enough amps to start a motor. (needs the extra cell to make it 14.8V).

But perfect for running cameras etc as Simon said.

I am only talking about Lithiun ion polymers here (li-pol)

The Shorai's look great if they can be installed with the inbuilt charging circuit! I think they are Lithium Iron Phosphate (yes iron not ion).

Here is a review of a Shorai LFX

  3. Hi Dan.

Just wondered how you got an all up weight of 120KG?

    I'm 82KG in the nud.

Clothes, helmet and boots..............8KG (more in winter)

    Reserve and instrument cockpit ......5KG

    Full of fuel........................................8Kg

    Paramotor........................................27KG

That makes 130KG plus the wing and your a bit heavier than me?

    Cheers

  4. Hi I have a Black Devil engine. Walbro carb.

I think my fuel tube has been through a tight bend for a while and is now soft and compressing.

Anyone know where to get the correct size of fuel tubing for this motor?

I would like to change the black tubing for clear.

I hear Tygon is the dogs Bo*****s?

  5. Hi.

If you can go ahead, I would advise you attach the GOPro to you ankle. I have done this many times, and allows you to fly down close to the action and if you concentrate on keeping your leg still, you will get very stable results.

Check it out from about 4 mins and 30 seconds in. (very close at 4:44)

    Cheers

  6. Hi Dan.

Obviously you have to pull the trimmers in together at the same time both sides.

Otherwise one side of the wing is trying to fly slow and the other side fast.

    Nasty things might happen.

A little bit of difference is OK I'm told, but don't pull one all the way in and then the other side.

  7. Hi Dan, I know what you mean.

Hard to change trimmer setting whilst keeping a constant throttle.

This is what I did in the beginning.

    1) If it’s time to go low or land I decide this at a good height (at least 500 feet for me or higher).

    2) Then I slowly let the throttle down to tick over.

    3) Now both hands are free to pull in the trimmers evenly to landing/take off position.

    4) Get fingers back on throttle and slow accelerate to level flight .

    5) Obviously keep an eye on where you are going and how much height you have lost.

    6) The whole thing takes about 5 to 10 seconds max.

    This works for me.

  8. Hi all.

I have just got off the phone to UK Castrol Tech.

They assure me the product we should be using to carry on from TTS and Power1 Racing TTs and Power1 Racing is the newer packaged Power1 Racing 2T in the GOLD bottle. Looks the same as the green Power1 but is the latest up to date Oil. I was assured it will cause no problems following on from the older oils.

Available from Halfords at £12.49 a litre.

  9. Hi Whitters.

Do you think upon reflection, that your landing on your back with full throttle, may have also slowed you down some?

I'm not saying anyone should keep the engine going (all training says turn engine off asap) but wondered in this case, if the 50 or 60 kg of thrust contributed to a slower landing?

    Cheers

  10. Huh thats a blast from the past.

My first wing was an Eagle Genie.

All black in colour. I was miss sold it, as it was too big for me. (Didnt know any better at the time, was told it was the correct size etc).

Was a nice safe wing as I remember.

Yes get it tested for sure!

Also I think it is the same wing as the Dudek Vox? Any one confirm this?
