    car rack

Anyone know anything about car racks for paramotors. I need something to go on back of car. Is it possible to adapt a bike one ? I know RAD do one, but it's £200, although that includes a cover. Cheers, Mike
  2. Hi Steve, I live in Leics but work in northants - in Spratton. My motor still hasn't arrived so not actually flying at the moment, but would be up for some after work flights this summer. If you fancy a beer one evening give me a call 07733 293 923 Cheers, Mike
  3. Marc, I don't know any flying sites near you, but I know there are some towards loughborough. They are all based on relationships between individual pilots and landowners. Beacuse of this, people are reluctant to give out location details etc. on forums in case other pilots cause problems and the site is lost. I think it is just a matter of finding a good site, and speaking to whoever owns it. Most people offer to pay some cash each time they use the site. Google earth is a pretty good way of spotting potential sites. Give me a call if you like 07733 293 923, maybe we could meet up for a beer. My motor hasn't arrived yet - but baby has! so not sure how much flying I'll get in. Cheers, Mike
  4. Marc, I guess you will have move by now ? I hope it went OK. I don't know Saxondale, but I do know the general area - grew up near Keyworth, and my folks are still in the area. Have you managed to spot any likely flying sites ? No immediate plans for a beer as first child is due anytime soon, but keep in touch. There are a few pilots in the area, so should be easy to meet up. Have you been flying for long & what do you fly ? I'm still new to this and I don't have kit yet, but it should be ready soon. Cheers, Mike
  5. Hi Marc, I'm meeting a couple of local pilots in the Quorndon Fox in Quorn pub next tuesday at 8.30, if you fancy joining us ? Cheers, Mike
  6. Hi Sam, I'm still learning myself. I reckon you are going to have trouble getting anyone to loan you equipment. It's just too easy to bend a frame. Some schools provide kit if you train with them - Airways Airsports near Asbourne for example. Bit of a long shot, but do you know the "Macka" the RAF guy at Loughborough University. I think he is intending to learn to paraglide. Feel free to get in touch. I live in Quorn near Loughborough. There are a few pilots in the midlands area, I'm sure we can find someone to let you have a quick ground handle if nothing else. Cheers, Mike
  7. Hi Felius, I'm not far from you in Quorn near Loughborough. I'm still learning and no motor yet, but keep in touch. Cheers, Mike
  8. Hi Adrian, I'm still learning myself, but I decided to got the BHPA route as i want to free fly and paramotor. I took my CPC with Airways Airpsorts near Ashourne. They train with a winch which means you don't have to keeep climbing up the hill. For the Paraglider aspect they are fantastic school. They do train paramotor too. I've heard there is a guy from Melton with a Powered Parachute - have you seen him ? Mike
  9. Hey Many congratulations ! Ours is due any day now. Any top tips ? Mike
  10. I'm off to look at a second hand parajet this weekend. Anyone got any top tips for things to look out for ? The more obvious cracks and dents I'm OK with, but I know next to nothing about engines and even less about early Parajet models. Cheers, Mike
  11. If anyone is looking to upgrade, I'm in the market for a paramotor and wing. I've heard good things about parajet, but not limiting myself to this. Wing has to be suitable for beginner/intermdiate. If anyone has anything or is thinking of upgrading, please get in touch. Cheers, Mike
  12. I'm trying to find an unbiased answer to the following question to help me make up my mind what to buy: I've been told that the smaller dia. prop on a parajet means that pilots who fly them tend to spend more time on full/higher power than an equivalant pilot with a larger dia. 2 blade prop. The claim continues to state that this greater use of full/high power means that the torque effect is greater for more of the time. If anyone can provide me with a impartial answer, and could explain why this is/or is not the case (not too techy please!) I would be most grateful. Also, if anyone can point me in the direction of a good source of basic info. on prop design that would also be useful. Cheers, Mike
  13. Hello, When I'm not learning to Paramotor, my other interest is cartoon/design. As I'm new here I don't know if this has been discussed before, but it is now possible to produce high quality T-Shirts in low volume for about £12 each. This is how it works. You produce a design for your club. The design is uploaded onto a T-shirt printing website as a vector graphic and you create a range of 'virtual' t-shirts, hoodies, bags etc featuring the logo. The really cool thing is no-one actually prints the t-shirt until someone orders one. When that happens the T Shirt printer downloads the the vector design, prints off the T shirt and posts it as a one off order. This means you don't have to sort out a big bulk order for your club. You can also then add designs as and when new clubs are set up. Payment is direct to the printer via the website, so once the site is set up, no-one from the club has to do anything. If there are enough people interested I am happy to set this up and do some designs for the local clubs. If you already have a design in mind it might be suitable for converting into a vector graphic. You need to avoid any part of the design being less than about 1.5mm wide as it causes problems for the printing process. Ideally you want to put a link on this website directly to the Tshirt website. If anyone is interested in this please get in touch. (I'm away for most of Xmas and New Year) Cheers, Mike
  14. Hi, Sorry I couldn't make it to the pub the other week, but it was a kind offer. I did my first solo on Sunday with Airways it went so well. I had my first go at groundhandling with the motor in the morning and found it really hard work, but when it came to my first real attempt at a launch it all just clicked. I got another couple of flights in in the same afternoon and they went just as well. I was knackered, but what a great feeling. I still grin when I think about it. It looks like I will be joining you all real soon. Have a good Christmas, Mike
