  1. Hi, I'm thinking of selling mine. Only about 20hrs on it and still cripsy! If you want to PM I'll let you have my number. Cheers, Mike
  2. I was hoping some of you would give me some feedback on the T-shirts I've designed. What you like/dislike think of price etc. I've put them on ebay for a quick trial. You'll find them here: http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/revobuzz__W0QQ_armrsZ1 If you could PM me your thoughts I would be very grateful. If anyone from this forum would like one I'd be happy to put your name, or some other message on the back for free. Thanks for your help. Mike
  3. I popped out last night for a quick ground handle. Trying to get back into paramotoring it after a long break. There was next to no wind and I had mixed success with forward launches. In order to improve my low/nil wind technique should I continue only ground handling until I get my totally technique sorted before strapping the motor on, or should I practice with motor too ? i.e. in your experience does the 'push' of the motor make low/nil wind take off easier than a no motor simulation?
  4. Just to let you know that the power kite group who operate at wymeswold airfield welcome ground handling paragliders. You have to pay £5 but it's a nice big area and they have shop, cafe WC etc. If your interested enter the site from the Prestwold Hall side and follow signs for the kite park. I'm trying to sort out launching paramotors with the owner but their has been a lot of neighbour objections to noise from the car racing operator who also use the field so it's not lloking likely. It's also right on the edge of EM airspace so perhaps not ideal.
  5. Has anyone flown from the "Tank Site" yet?
  6. Hi Richard, No regular site's as yet. We are all looking though. The tanks site looks promising though. (see earlier posts)
  7. Hi, There is a little group who use a field in measham near Ashby de la zouch. I'm still working on a regular Leicester field. Do you fly from the Microlight Field in Swinford? I was up there the other day. Mike
  8. I've found the reality of finding good fields is much harder than I'd expected. When I set out I had visions of just popping down to a local field and taking off, but that's not been the reality for me. Fields with crops in are no good. Horses nearby are a problem. Farmers are reluctant to let you use fields with cattle/sheep in. Sloping fields are difficult if wind in wrong direction, then if you add airspace restrictions, trees, buildings, busy roads, pilons, rivers, houses, you're not left with much. And then you've got to convince the owner to let you use it. I'm on the edge of EM airspace, so perhaps more restrictions in my area. Is anyone else finding it hard to find sites?
  9. Good work Dave. I hope the meeting goes well. What SSDR are you thinking about? I'm thinking of doing Flexwing training next year.
  10. Dave was going to speak to some of his microlight contacts to see about using one of their fields. Might be worth following up? Do you mean buy, rent or squat? I think we need a meeting. Tim
  11. Yeah the comment about GA is a valid one as Tollerton airport is also in that general area - 10 miles or so and there was a helicopter in the far distance last night too. The area is surrounded by open fields, so it's easy to keep low and not have any 500ft rule issues until you have left the area under the airspace. Thanks to everyone who has helped & commented so far.
  12. Tim/Coggie, Yeah the aviator would be good choice. I work just around the corner, so can be in there from just after 5. Thursday would be OK. I'll PM you my number. Cheers, Mike
  13. That's what I thought, but is the 1500ft AMSL or AGL ?
  14. Hi, Looking at recent posts It looks like Steve is taking a break. Does anyone else in the Northampton Area fancy meeting up? Get in touch if you do. Cheers, Mike
  15. Lat and long would be handy? Pete b Sorry not got details with me, but it's the 1500'-FL105 area on the East side of EM Airport, South West of where the A606 crosses A46. Cheers, Mike
  16. Can anyone hepl me with an airspace question. I normally fly well away from any form of controlled airspace, but I've got the chance of using a fantastic field, but it's on the edge of airspace associated with EastMidlands Airport, so I've never used it, and I realise I need to understand airspace if I am ever going to venture beyond the training field. It's just inside the the CTA D 1500'-FL105. area. Could anyone give me an explanation of this, and point me in the direction of some good training notes. The stuff I've been reading has left me a little confused. Many thanks
  17. Hi Gazz, I'm learning too so not sure if I can advise on kit. I would say that size of the prop is a factor in thrust, so don't forget to look into this aspect not just engine size. The problem with starting out in this sport is that people won't lend you their kit so you can have a try on some differtn machines 'cos if you fall over and snap a prop or bend a cage it can be expensive. Even schools like Airways, (which is probably the nearest school) where you fly their machines when you learn will charge you to replace a prop if you have a tumble. Your best bet is to speak to as many dealers, pilots and instructers as you can, and you'll get a broad range of advice. It's not easy to get impartial advice, but there are lots of pilots in Leicestershire. I'm in Leics too (Quorn), so get in touch if you fancy a ground handling session and/or a beer. Cheers, Mike
  18. Hi Sam, I live in Quorn, Leicetsreshire. I find it's often the brake lines that cause all the problems. If you can unsnag those it's often easier. The next thing is to sort the lines out in order. Most wings have lines of different colours which helps. Start with all the lines that start at the front of the wing and lay them out so they are on top of all the others. More often than not, if you sort these out properly it becomes clear where the twist is. I wouldn't recommend undoing anything. Please feel free to get in touch if I can help. Cheers, Mike
  19. Hey I like your stuff. What method are you using to get the image on. This will affect the quality and how much people will pay I think? Mike
  20. Back in 26 days boys ,cant wait to get away from this hoval.i do fly from the church (permission not fully secured yet tho) ground handling there is no problem.other than that this year i will push harder for a decent site central to us all.i have a lot of work to do on my motor when i get home but wont take long if i dog straight into it . see you all soon steve Hi Steve, Give us a shout when your back, it would be good to meet up, maybe at the Church Field for a bit og a ground handle? or maybe just a swift beer if weather lousy. Wednesday evenings are generally best for me. But any weekday other than Friday is possible. I may have a contact for a field in Spratton, but not sure yet. Anyway, see you when you get back. Cheers, Mike
  21. Hi Simon, I've never really been away - just spent the winter earning vast amounts of brownie points from my wife to make sure I get plenty of Paramotor time this year. Cheers, Mike
  22. Hi Tim, Sounds like we are at a similar stage. I'm also trying to locate sites, but I don't really know the area so let me know if you have any luck. I have heard of a guy who flys small aircraft or microlights out of somewhere in Pitsford, but not really much to go on. You have to avoid Sywell though as the aerodrome is very active. I work right next to it and we often get the blades practising overhead, plus helicopters and micolights - we even had the vulcan a while back! There was talk about them holding a paramotor event this year at Sywell, but not sure if it ever got off the ground (excuse the pun). Anyone know if it's still on ? It sounds like there is a little bunch of us in the area. I'm not sure where listcom steve flys from - somewhere near the church I think. I'm sure we can hook up when he's back in the UK. If you fancy a beer and a chat sometime after work just let me know. Maybe hook up and get some ground handling in. Cheers, Mike
  23. Hi Millsy, I work in Sywell, so if you fancy beer and a chat after work, just let me know. I can bring motor and wing along so you can take a look. Maybe fire it up if we can find a suitable place, or have a go at ground handling the wing. I've not finished my training yet, but I should be able to help you with some of the basic stuff. I'm looking for sites and people to fly with in the Northants area. (A bit away from Sywell though - way too much in the air around here!) Cheers, Mike
  24. Is that the old saxon church ? If you're flying early one evening, drop me a text and I'll come and say hello. Cheers, Mike
