  1. Hi,

I'm thniking of makeing a smoke system over the winter.

Has anybody got any experience around what the best flow rate (of the liquid), is and what do people use?

Most people seem to use diesel and baby oil/trnamission fluid or antifreeze etc.

    Any advice.

  2. Hi, Who was it flying around Aldeburgh/Orford tonight with the yellow wing.

Was it you? Where are you based?

I was the one with the blue/white Nucleon.

I assume you launched from the beach. Which i do sometimes. I would have played more and stopped for a chat, but needed to get back before it was dark. I flew from Kesgrave (ipswich).

It got a bit hazy on the way back, but a great flight.

If you're local perhaps we could meet up.

  3. Hoping somebody can help with heated gloves.

So firstly, are cheap heated gloves worth buying? Are they any better than a good pair of normal gloves?

Secondly, what heated gloves do people have/use? How much do you need to spend to get a pair worth having.?

What heated gloves do people use?

    Thanks In advance.

  4. Chaps,

What spark plugs are most of you using? Standard or Iridium?

I had trouble getting my PAP TOP80 running smoothly today. It would start then immediatly stop. After changing the plug (with a new standard plug) it seemed to cure it. I then had a flight of over an hour with no problems. After landing, I tried to starting it again and couldn't get it to keep running. After checking the fuel etc, I then put a old Iridium plug in (that I was given with the motor and it now runs fine. Ordered a new Iridium plug as a spare.

How often do you change your plugs and which have you found best.?

  5. Not realy sure why I take it off, probably due to habbit when I used to put it in the car.

I'll probably keep it in one piece now you mention it.

Couldn't go flying yesterday, so decided to make covers for my PAP, for when I have to have it on the back of the car to stop any dirt and muck.

Was going to make a full cover, but decided the wind resistance would be too much.

  6. Hi,

I'm looking for a field to fly from around the ipswich area. I've been asking a number of farmers, but nothing has come up yet.

Does anybody know any farmers or somebody with some land that they would be happy for people to fly from?

Any contacts peole clould pass on would be greatly appreciated.

  7. Hi,

I've got an Apco Thrust HP and have found that the speed bar is very hard to push and find it almost impossible to get the pullys to touch. Although I have no slack in the speedbar (as soon as I push the speedbar it starts to pull the pullys together.

So my problem is, it' very hard to push and i'm not able to get the pullys to tough to get the full range.

Has anybody else had any problems?.

    Any help appreciated.

  8. I've just made my own rack from a cycle carrier, that I got of ebay and chopped all the bits off I didn't want and put a patform on it.

I used 15mm pipe clips fixed to the base to clip the frame into and then put a metal plate with a few wing nuts on the top to secure the frame to the base.

It's rock solid and cost me about £50.

    I'll post an photo later.

  9. Steve,

I have got new mounts, as they look as if they are sagging.

I've just looked at the frame and it is a little off straight. I'll see if I can straighten it tonight. I had a quick go lunch time but it didn't want to move, so I'll have a proper go tonight.

    Thanks.

  10. HI,

I've noticed that my prop on my top 80 is nearer the bottom of the cage than the top.

It looks like the anti vibration mounts have sagged and have ordered new ones.

But with the new ones should the prop be in the centre of the cage, as it still looks like there will still be a bigger clearance at the top than the bottom.

I only noticed when I landed a little hard and the prop just touched the frame, (no serious damage to the prop, but I don't want it to happen again)

    Is this normal?
