  1. Tarifa's definitely the place for kitesurfing, not really Marbella. Wind's looking...windy (40 - 50kmh)

I'm afraid I'll not be much help with the Real Estate people. I can't stand them. Most of them are self-important, arrogant, greedy f****rs.

Bring your MC, I've just bought a DJI Phantom Quad and am learning the ropes with it. Loadsa fun!

    Speak when you get here.

  2. It's very easy to sit in front of the monitor and dish out criticisms, and say how stupid someone is for making a mistake, but after a couple hundred flights I am still making mistakes that I kick myself for, but crucially learn from. No two flights are ever the same, especially meteorologically, and there is always something to learn from each.

They should never be taken as an opportunity to preach.

The only thing that confused and shocked me a little was a comment made at 9.00mins about an assumption that increasing power would increase speed

and the surprise that instead of increasing forward progress, he in fact climbed.

Anyway, I love these videos and the opportunity for everyone to learn something whilst sitting at a pc (or mac :) ) that might one day come in useful. Love YouTube :D

Poz- my point here is that someone who offers instruction should know these paramotoring basics.

To be honest Gordon, I didn't notice that he was offering instruction to beginners.:shock: I retract in this case :|

  4. Good suggestion, might just work...Thanks for the idea. Are you in Logistics by any chance...or just common sense

    Rob.

It's not a spare PPG unfortunately, the deal with the missus was that if I buy a PAP Thor 200, I have to sell my PA125 :( It's a bummer cause I love this machine. Apart from the odd occasion where I have accidentally hit the stop button in flight, in 130hrs it's never missed a beat (mind you it gets serviced by Pierre himself every 25 hrs). Would love to keep it as a spare though.

I'm fairly certain I can get you accommodation where I live in Benahavis (20 mins from Marbella), 5 mins from flying fields 1 and 2 and plenty of beach launch sites.

PPG storage is not a problem here. Vehicle hire I'm afraid is down to you and t'internet as I have no contacts. Shouldn't be a problem at this time of year to get a small van (very popular with families)

Let me know how you get on with the airlines.

Also, can I suggest you leave the booking as late as possible to try to sus out what the weather will be doing, because in March in can be the best PPG weather imaginable or it can be pissing down like it is right now :(

    Cheers

  5. another polini thor bites the dust...

was it the 200 or 110..??

I wouldn't say it's bitten the dust, it was sorted within 24hrs by Pierre at PAP. Basically Polini send out the Thor 200 tuned so rich that it simply doesn't function correctly and needs to be leaned out...just not too much.

Bottom line is this engine isn't finished and Polini are selling them. It is outrageous, but this seems to be all part and parcel of paramotoring with 2 stroke engines.

I have to just say that I have never experienced customer care like I just experienced from PAP. I returned the engine to Pierre at around 2pm. At 9.30pm he text me to tell me he had finished repairing it and would test it in the morning. Modifications have been implemented to prevent a re-occurance (increased squish, richer mixture etc).

    Pretty impressive.

  6. I really NEED my feet to leave the ground :x

It's been weeks.... no hang on, it's been since I last touched down (is that excessively desperate?).

I'm beginning to understand the frustration you must have felt in Britain last year, why won't this rain just xxxx off???????????????

.... and it's going to stay this way all month :(

I really am feeling the need for air, sigh, and all the real ale from the UK has run out

    Cheers, Alan

Ahh I wondered where all our rain and cloud had gone for the past 10 weeks, 4 days, 1 hour 23 minutes. You've got it Alan.

Wall to wall sun here, flying everyday. Can you tell i've been reading a famous book by Dale Carnegie.:)

Y'all need to jump on a bus and head down to the Costa.

...mind you it didn't stop my brand new Thor drilling a piston the other day and dumping me on the beach :(

  7. LOL

Tape off all the pointy bits inside!!

    SW :D

LOL I have to admit it looks worse speeded up than it actually is. No pointy or oily bits, and it's lived in there since new (inside garage). I only use the CRV for paramotoring. At 20mpg (14 year old and automatic), I can't afford to run it for anything else :D

  8. Before I learned to fly a PPG, during the research stage, I used to love watching videos that showed the delights that lay ahead.

I was quite intimidated by what I perceived was involved and sought out the clips that showed how quick and easy it can be to get airborne once you've learned and gained a bit of experience and confidence.

So here's one for the me that was (if you know what I mean) and for anyone else who would like to see exactly why the Paramotor is the best aircraft in the world.

Hope it makes you smile and pushes you on...

    Cheers

  10. Paul, good point, you're absolutely right...but what comes first (immediately after applying full power), the change of angle of attack, or the climb.

I know in a fixed wing aircraft a sudden change in pitch caused by pulling back sharply on the elevator can bring the nose up quicker than the aircraft can climb, causing a power stall. I've tried it, it's horrible

I'm not sure this principle of flight would translate to PPGs. In fact, thinking about it :roll::roll: (closest I could find to a 'thinking' smiley)....I don't think it would. I can't do it on my Thor 200, tried it today.

I guess the equivalent would be to apply full power and full brakes.

    Any volunteers

  11. I've been following this with interest, and really hoping that someone would explain the cause of a stall and so far no-one has, so here goes...

First of all, low speed is not the cause of a stall; the cause is the angle of attack. At a specific angle of attack, called the critical angle of attack, air going over a wing will separate from the wing, causing said wing to stall.
