  1. As I'm not flying yet I can't see the intricacies of what happed here. Was it a wing failure of some sort whilst down wind? I can see he'd just gone cross wind of the takeoff runway and was turning down wind. I can't see where the problem occured though. A steer would be useful (I don't fancy that list at the end when I do fly!)

  2. Is this something that we could be doing as an independent club? (I say we as I intend to join as soon as I'm ready to learn!) I'd be willing to test kit once I'm airborne as it gives flying a purpose. (I think I'd need this so it didn't get too routine.) Is this something you'd look at the club doing in future Simon?

    Cheers guys,

  3. Check were the bain of my ife when I was military aircrew. It took me ages to learn them. But they stuck. So when we had a loss of hydraulic pressure one flight, I was glad I had been made to make the effort. Not like the Czech Loady I once met, smoking a fag in the cabin!!

  4. Hi guys,

Sounds to me like Shaggy's a pretty big man for sharing his experiences. The old expression about old and bold and bags of luck and experience and all that springs to mind. The more of us that can share near misses and potential problems hopefully helps us learn.

The best bit is that Shag's about and able to tell us. Now 'we' (I count myself as a potential) have to take something away. How many 'experienced' pilots always check weather, brief themselves and stick exactly to their plan on absolutely every flight?

    Anyhow, toodle pip.

  5. Hi,

how's the planning going? Unfortunately I won't be able to join you for '10, due to being on my paramedic degree. (Oh, and the small matter of not being able to fly (yet)!!) However, if you need an expedition paramedic after 2010, I'm your man!
