  1. Hi Adrian thanks for the reply. It used to work fine in firefox- never had a problem till earlier this eve. When I go to the log in page, I type in my details and when I click login it goes back to the forum page without logging in. If when I try to reply to a message, when I log in, it does nothing- just stays on the log in page. Just started training then? Hows it going? Thought about going to Simon but hes a bit far away as Im in Teignmouth, Devon. Just gonna get a used wing and perfect ground handling with an experienced mate. Will look into training when Im at the ground hoping stage I think
  2. Hi guys, my firefox browser no longer lets me log in to the site, but seems ok with Internet explorer. Any ideas? Cheers in advance, Steve
  3. Done some research and found the wing is quite an old model (1999) and the motor too powerful for my needs. Thanks.
  4. Brilliant thanks mate, I did see the ad on here AFTER I posted lol my fault for not looking. It sounds like everything I will ever need. Seems to be right size too as I am 95kg at the moment. Do you think it is a good set up Pete? The Para2000 link doesnt seem to work though.
  5. Hi guys, anyone any thoughts on Silex wings and Freshbreeze motors? Good for a beginner? Just seen this ebay listing. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FULL-PARAMOTOR-PA ... 1|294%3A50 Anyone on here? Cheers, Steve
  6. Lucky begger! thats the ultimate isnt it? Learning to fly in the sun Ive only got a limited budget so need to keep the cash for wing, motor and training. Gonna learn to ground handle first then train to save time have a good trip, post up your thoughts when you come back. cheers
  7. Ok thanks Simon. Just gotta work out who with now. I would go wih yourself but a bit of a trek up to your area from Devon. I was born in Hereford so might be better to give Pete a go as i know he does that area and i can stay with ma at the same time Cheers, Steve
  8. Hi guys, want to start training before I buy any gear and was wondering how much training would cost. I know I could phone around but thought it would be quicker getting responses on here along with feedback. Im down in Teignmouth and dont think there is much training round here so think Ill have to travel. Thanks in advance. Steve
  9. Ok guys, thanks for the replies, ill do some more reasearch on weights. Steve
  10. Hi guys, Im getting a bit confused with what size wing to be looking for. Im currently 95kg but hope to be down to 90kg soon. Should I go for a large wing or medium? Large seems to be about 90-115kg and mediums about 80-105kg. Im looking at the PAP Motion currently on ebay which is medium 80-105kg. The fella selling advises an all up weight of 90kg with kit? Ive learnt that its better to be at the top end for speed and flyability etc. Will this wing suit me if i slim to 90kg? Is there a standard rule of thumb for a weight for harness, boots, suit etc or do you have to weigh your individual gear. I know there are a lot of questions, but im a newbie so have it all to learn
  11. Hi guys, anyone have any experience of PAP wings, Motion wing specifically. Im a beginner looking for a cheap wing i can start of on. Thanks for any info. Steve
  12. Hi Dan, thanks for the link. Interesting reading although most of it over my head (no pun intended lol) I dare say it will mean more to me when I get flying and learning more of the terminology. Asquaddie- How is the gear working out? Are you training with an instructor or a experienced pilot? Can i be cheeky and ask how much your Parajet was second hand? cheers, fellas. Steve
  13. Hi guys, im a newbie to the site although I have posted a couple of times. Thought id better introduce myself before I bug you with more daft questions My names Steve and im in Teignmouth, Devon. Not flying yet but have thought about it for about 20 years lol. Basically I would like to paramotor really but have heard that I sould learn to paraglide first. Am I right in thinking that there is more stricter training sylabus with paragliding than there is with paramotoring? I have seen the student pilot, club pilot etc classifications but there doesnt seem to be the same for paramotors? Ive been offered to be shown the basics by a generous guy who is local to me who is very experienced with both diciplines. I have a healthy fear/respect for flyers as I am a mature 41 yo under no illusions that this is a dangerous sport. I see lots of cheap wings on ebay but always told myself I would buy a new wing for safety sake but the ones I am watching appear to be low hours, certified and serviced wings for cheap money. I assume to be buying a second hand motor at least to start with in case its not for me. I have saved funds for a new wing and motor but thought id start on used gear. I know theres a lot of stuff here but as I say im a newbie? thanks for any info Steve Ooops, sorry. Forgot my original question- Whats the difference between a reflex and non reflex wing? Thanks
  14. Dont worry about the ebay link guys, the paramotor has just sold
  15. Great blog Tony really inspiring. Looking into paramotoring at the moment, no previous experience of any flying though. Keep it coming, cheers, Steve
  16. Sorry, my bad. Heres the item number- 170330343698 Wouldnt let me paste a link
  17. Hi guys, just spotted this on fleabay. Seems a really good price. Hes selling a wing too. Do they sound a good deal? Im figuring if I buy a quality, safe but cheap setup to start, it will give me the incentive to get down to some training instead of umming and arring as i have been for years! Will a check of the wing show up any problems like bad lines or porosity etc? Anyone know this fella? Cheers
  18. Hi guys, thanks for the replies. Rob- about 10k was my estimate too, but to try and keep the costs down a bit I was going to look at a new wing (for safety) and nearly new harness and paramotor, if I can find them. I figure I can update with a newer more powerful motor as my experience increases. I think personally I would always be a bit wary of a second hand wing unless it was a low hours model from the flying school I go with. Too many near death experiences on bikes, dont want the same thing in a second hobby! lol Ill check back on here regularly too, to check on flying sites progress. Cheers all, Steve
  19. Hi guys, Im a newbie here, but been interested in Paragliding since the late 80's but never seemed the right time to start. (money n stuff). Thinking of trying paramotoring now as costs seemed to have come down a lot since I last looked into it. Just wondering if any of you guys are using the Heathfield site to launch from. If you are mebbe I can catch up and check out your gear and get some advice? Cheers, Steve. Teignmouth.
