  1. my brother has now dicided to go to thailand, that leaves me paramotoring on my own, i live in newhaven and have several sites in this area. all my sites are noise sensitive as ive manage to annoy most the people in newhaven over the years, that being said, i looking for some to pal up with round this area for paramotoring, as i really dont think its a good idea to fly on my own robin home number 01273 612285 moblie 07770048544

  3. steve once your qualified your have to come and fly with me at newhaven, we have no bobbies, and we dont mind noise, in-fact the noisier the better, the weather over the bank holiday weekend looks pretty crap, i dont see alot of motoring over the next few days, robin

  4. Apparently the Basin offers better fuel efficiency, i not sure any a basin/bowl type of carb would be any different in fuel efficiency because its all in the air/fuel mixture which must be tuned right!

diaghpragm carbs have taken years of development to perfect, they are small, can be mounted in any position and vibration is not an issue, robin

  6. Would love to Barry, but am only allowed to ground flap at the moment!!

I'll see what Lord Haze is up to....

Apparently Lord Haze (aka Peg Leg) is otherwise detained..will join Enzo in Brighton unless we are allowed to ground flap Barry?

We can certainly keep you company on the ground.. is HRH Morgy not around? Or is he off to break more records???

P.S where do you fly in brighton? that sounds a bit nearer to me!

  8. Hi

Was at Firle beacon today getting some info on local training clubs from a couple of really friendly Paragliding chaps, when I noticed two Paramotors operating somewhere north of Newhaven, anyone from the forum?

    Kind regards

    Cessna

PS Conditions were marginal for gliding/soaring, but the motor option looked good to me! :)

that was me and graham we flew from bisopstone towards firle but gave the paragliders a wide berth, as we didn't want to upset them, robin

  9. Hi Robin -

Thanks - I got there as fast as flu-ed up wife would allow, but I thought it might be too late for you..

I managed a 50 minute flight out to the east towards beachy head. - perfect flight, very calm conditions and really enjoyed playing around the cliffs. Conditions were perfect for some low flying too, so did some of that in farmland away from anyone / anything.

One stupid thing I did was not to inspect the take off well. I took off on the field just south of the railway line as I had taken off fine (facing west) there before. I got off first time but it was a crap / long take off run as I was having to correct my wing on the ground and just made it over some raised ground. On the other side of the raised ground was a massive river / lake which I did not know about - if my motor had died at that point just after take off I would very likely have drowned.... I hate putting my life into the hands of the engine (although its arguably better than putting my hands into the life of the engine :-) )

Next Time I will ALWAYS check what kind of area I am taking off into - and abort earlier if needed....

Will give you a shout next time ... Cheers

    Nick

glad you were okay, that site has its risks to the south is the tide mills river (which you found) and to the north the railway thats why we sometimes find its better to pay farmer to use his fields

every free site has its dangers we have not found anywhere free which is large enough without obstacles to avoid, yet!

lots of people saw you flying, i have had several reports but contrary to popular belief, they enjoyed watching you

    be in touch soon, robin

  10. nick, sorry you diidnot get to fly with us, i must have missed your text, we packed up around 3.30pm because we were all flown out

we had three 1 hour flights, each flight heading off in a different direction

did you try eastside beach, how did you get on?

one thing i did notice was at 2.30pm there were two paramotors with yellow wings, came along the cliffs from brighton flew over newhaven and returned towards lewes, wonder who they were? and where did they launch from? robin

  11. its now sunday morning 8.30am wind is 17mph and gusting 22mph on the coast this is not good paramotor weather

i will ring steve and see if he wants to go to firle and practice his ground handling but as it stands at the moment it maybe to stong to get his wing out!
