Neither have the option for ear defenders, why not look at the Fly UL? Looks the same but you can specify ear-cups or radio.

It is a Revo 28 Nghtshade with just a few hours groundhandling and a single 20 minute flight. Got the wing around June last year

I am fortunate enough to have tried both approaches.

I tried the more relaxed approach, only learning when the weather was good. I personally found this method didn't work for me as I felt I was taking one step forward and then two steps back due to having to reacquaint myself each time with what I had learnt two weeks before or whenever despite trying to do things inbetween lessons.

For me the bulk approach meant that I was able to progress and learn at a better more stable pace due to the intense nature of the course. I found also that by having a number of instructors on the course meant that I received alot more one-to-one help and instruction which improved the learning process and enabled me to better understand what I was doing and identify why certain things were going wrong. I also feel that having the same group of people for the week meant that there was very much a team spirit and that we all help each other when moral was low and praised each other when we progressed. I also found the course to be extensive and had a clear written sylabus covering everything I needed to leave a confident pilot and included alot of theory and lectures.

I also experienced the issue of not being able to fly for a number of days while on my bulk course, due to unforseen high winds. I was given full credit for all days that were not used and have since used some of this credit and will be using the rest in a couple of weeks time. Indeed, everyone that attended that week received the same level of committment and I was glad to see some of them get into the air when we used some of our credit for training earlier in the year.

Yeah, boots are awesome!! Recommend them to anyone. Really comfortable (like wearing slippers) and light. Ankle support seems good to me but don't really have anything to compare them with on that front.

Didn't bother with the radio in the end as asking around with the people I'll probably fly with, none of them have radios. Should I need one in the future then I'll go down the throat mike route.... so if anyone can recommend one??

I'm looking at buying the FlyUL helmet from Icaro. Is it better to get the radio option or just the standard headphones?

Can you plug an iPod into the radio jack?

Would it be better to get a throat mike instead and go for the plain headphones?

Just drive slowly and keep a good eye out and you shouldn't have a problem. There is a large bump as you go up on the left, complete bottomed out my car but if you keep to the right you should be fine.

I got up there in an Astra VXR and have seen a golf up there before, so shouldn't have too much of a worry.

Abit of ground handling on some wet grass does the trick too.....

Might be an idea to remove the top half of the frame to avoid turbulance buffering your motor.

Definately get the Powered Paragliding Bible.

Before getting the bible I purchased "Paramotoring from the ground up" and "Touching cloudbase" and while these are good books, I found the bible to be more comprehensive. I also liked the little tip boxes to help you self-diagnose when your launches go wrong.

A rating system sounds like a really good idea and something that would benefit everyone.

I would raise the question of the comments box as this could give rise to a similar situation arising as a post. What would stop someone ranting in the comments box? Unless you limited the number of words or something, that might be one way....

Had the doctor not asked for the post to be taken off then it would NOT be a legal issue.

Had the post been removed when asked then it would NOT be a legal issue.

Either way, the post could be re-worded to be more factual and less of a rant with agreement of all parties involved, otherwise it will be removed. I think this is a fair approach and one that benefits the forum and protects Simon's interests.
