  1. Here is the first attempt...

    pmc_badge.jpg

Don't forget to add your name if you want one printed. There will be blank ones with Simon on both days should you choose to adorn yourself with this beautiful badge. Also, nearer the time i'll put up a pdf and doc for printing your own.

  2. Excellent. Where do I sign up SLiM? Surely if we get a big old group of us in one place, you can go through all the jazz and get us 'passed' to whatever level is neccessary? I for one would love to comply with the law and am happy to pay for that privilege (that is why my new radio hasn't been switched on yet...).

Surely at some point in the future when we become 'regulated', we will need to unanimously decide on a universal form of communication for paramotorists? Whether it's 2m or airband (assuming we end up lugging transponders around)?!?

As the PMC seem to be murmering towards a structured sylabus as it were, would this be part of it?

  3. Just looking and there is also this;

    Detachable ear pads

    Goggle strap retaining clip

    Weight (g): 550

I'm sure the quality is no comparison to the PlusMax sold here in the shop but might be good for those feeling 'the pinch'

  5. Hi Dog_Snob and welcome to the club,

I am only a newbie here myslef so i'm sure people will pipe up if I give any wrong info.

There is no real 'course' to take when learning to paramotor. We are unregulated and therefore have no set 'course' or 'sylabus' to follow in order to take to the skies. You will find two types of people that paramotor; those who haven't taken any instruction what-so-ever (they are usiually the ones doing lots of running, sitting, and trips to the prop fairy - allegedly) and then you get the people (like me and the majority on this site) that opted for some form of 'tuition' from a qualified or 'recognised' instructor.

Your background in microlights has obviously given you a grounding (no pun) in the flight theory, law and meteorology aspect of this sport. What you will need, is good firm advice on equipment and general paramotoring flight tips, tricks, techniques - the physical side to actually getting up in the air (safely and efficiently).

The main recommendations I read here are not to rush into buying any equipment. Another benefit of using an instructor is that they tend to have 'school' equipment for you to train on - and various wing/motor combos for you to try.

People will add more to this I am sure,

Maybe see you in the sky sometime soon,

    Ben

  6. WEIRD

Icaro would like to congratulate their Spanish importer, Angel Carrasco Gonzalez, on winning the Spanish tandem paramotor Championship with his Icaro Twice.

Just pasted that off the site. Maybe it's an internittent problem with their webhosting or something...

  7. Garmin eTrex Vista C have one like Ian (irm750). Recommended by my instructor and he was right, has absolutely everything one needs if not more!!!!!

Easy to use and read and is ever so small and compact!!

I like to keep things simple and easy. I can download all sorts of maps abroad and it has everything one needs!!

I would really recommend this to all novices like me!!!!!!!!! :)

    Mike

Can I upload airmaps to the eTrex Vista C? Thinking about trying to hunt one down...but would like to be able to put on the airmaps...

    Cheers

  8. If anyone needs technical info on radios I am your man.

Ooooooh, sounds like a challenge to me. V23nb, SLiM and francis - please take up your positions. Gladiators...ready?

    3...2...1 - let the battle commence :)

That aside, welcome to the club Alan. I'm sure your knowledge will come in handy and we look forward to joining in the various arguments we have here, sorry, I mean debates!

I myself know very little on comms other than just buying a very complicated vx-7r :)

  9. OK guys, compiling a list of names for funky 'look at me' stickers (also advertising for the club I guess...)

They are designed to print on standard avery address labels so when i'm done i'll upload the file so you can print them out yourself if you want to. Labela are avery L7162. I guess you could also print to paper so i'll put a pdf up to.
