Sounds great, I think the land sounds good, thanks pegasus. Maybe we should agree on a date before we start scrounging traps left right and center. I'm a bit anal with regards to H&E so we'd have to be safe (not that we wouldn't).

I have clays coming out of my ears can contribute those. We need an idea on numbers, level of ability and who can bring there own guns.

Personally, i'm not that fussed regarding weather...but makes more sense to do it when it's more 'clement'.

We just need a couple of BBQ's (or a spit roast) and away we go

Well close to me there are both Broomhills shooting groundin Markyate (near, Dunstable) and the A1 shooting groundat South Mimms Services (well, 2 minutes down road). Both are CPSA registered I think, plus they have good sporting layouts to competition standard.

Alternatively, maybe we should do a quick count up and see how many people are interested, then plan something halfway 'ish' from everybody. Plent of grounds around for that to be practical.

Peeersonally, I'd prefer to make a good day out of it, nice BBQ, few drinks (after the bang bangs are safely stored away) and do it in a field somewhere. I have a pallet load of standard and midi clays, all we need are some traps and a willing land owner

Further to ParamotorsUK ongoing communication last year and recently with the CAA regarding the 10 ltr fuel tank rule after it was inadvertantly bought to their attention, we can now announce that the CAA have agreed to the remove the rule from the ANO in due course.

The ANO will be amended at the next reprint and the 10 ltr rule will be removed.

Until such time it is suggested that some marking level marking is provided on the tanks to a volume not exceeding 10 ltrs then the aircraft can remain within the definition by that means.

Thanks must also go to RMH for his letter which undoubtedly helped with regards to the competition side of the ruleing enforcement.

I think it's a mixture of things;

- Obviously it is for charity, giving the tools etc needed for locals to produce leather footballs etc (very worthy cause).

- Then there is the whole 'fun' and 'because we can' element (you can't really do the latter without justifying with the former).

- Then more interesting to me, is the fact it is bio-fuelled and has a zero carbon footprint (other than the ground support tagging along, but the flying car itself is carbon neutral).

- Also, as I have had a good 10 or so people ask me directly about the sport (after hearing me for months go on about paramotoring), or overhearing talk about that funny flying car on the tv...it has done a lot for exposing/advertising our sport in a good light.

Although, I did hear Chris Evans saying how anyone can go buy the kit and start flying (which I feel was a tad irresponsible, even though true).

Hmmmm, there is obviously nothing out there that handles all of that, so would need to be a custom job or complete hack about with existing elements that are available (and thats not even thinking about controling fuel level indicatots etc).

Personally, I'd think about making all these cables more manageable instead (it will be cheaper and more practical). Everything feeds/plugs into a single management box with then has just one cable going up to your headset.

Beats dragging a pocket meter around and (more specifically - forgetting it at the bank ).

Yep, my local branch of Barclays is full of hot ait too. I blame it on the automatic doors. It's never been so bad that i've had to take a speed reading though

I know a good few of us shoot. Every year, Boxing Day and New Years, I like to go shoot some clays. I wondered if anybody else was planning to shoot on either day? I'm in Herts and will travel a fair distance for a good layout (shame i'm no good really).

Request on the offchance, no problem if not, there are a couple locally I can jump in on.

We should organise something in 2009 though, the PMC Clay Trophy Big day event, competition between the regions, BBQ, barn dance etc etc.

Sorry, I have one final revision which I think is better all round.

This is a 3/4 position float device. It can be controlled simply (ie, no TTL/CMOS circuit) and will take power from either onboard 12v or PP9 9v 'square' battery (or even AA's if you prefer). There will be no drilling the tank, but you will need to drill the filler cap. The sensor will be a 1" threaded mounting into the cap (cap easily and cheaply replaced). As there are 3/4 positions, it can easily drive corrosponding LEDs (green for full, orange for half, flashing red for low). I'm waiting for a price but it is much cheaper than the optical sensors.

The opticall sensors would be affected by ambient infrared light and various other factors. This new sensor works with reed switches so is magnet based.

Yep, capacitance is the way really. You don't need to drill holes in the side of your tank either. But I like this idea.

The fluid literally disrupts the optical flow.

Will that work Nick? i'm just thinking the fuel tank is likely to be opaque in most cases. Also, if it does work and you set the pot when sun was shining, it could cause problems if it gets darker etc? I'm no expert though so more than happy to be wrong!?!

Really i'd like the Quest XC but the guys stopped making them and they are like rocking horse poo now.

I think Gilo had them fitted to the parajets that did the Everest mission...it does everything from climb and sink rate, wind speed, fuel level blah blah blah

You might want to check with them but I think it is RS 477-4676 at £13.66. Don't quote me on that but I think it's right...

And after speaking to bendme (in the youtube vid), it is a float sensor, not optical sensor he is using. I got my oart numbers wrong. Think i'd prefer the optical anyway

I think that Kev (Bendme) just uses a float switch at the 2 litre point.

Nope, he uses the gem level sensor. I emailed him then realised that he had already answered the question under the youtube video...
