  1. a crazy green peace lady drove over my glider, i was flying legally, practicing aprroach and landings on a flat sandy area at a river mouth. I landed and walked back with the glider over my shoulder when a women in a SUV started circling me, screaming and swearing about birds. I just walked away, she then circled close and closer and then came straight at me at about 60km/h. I jumped out of the way but she ran over my bunched up glider.

I cant see any visible damage but what should I look out for? should I get all the lines replaced? The sand was soft but hard enough to drive on.

(I did report it to the police and have 2 witnesses)

  2. the 500ft rule was designed for airplanes, this is already very conservative rule where paragliders/paramotors is concerned.

Jeez, cars, trucks and bikes are allowed to drive past buildings and people meters away. What damage would a paramotor cause compared to a truck? There is already enough rules to follow we dont need these self appointed paramotor police as well.

  3. the great thing about the v5 4-stroke sound is that the sound doesn't seem to bother sheep or horses :) Where 2-strokes scare the crap out of them

I asked how it compares to a Polini Thor because the Thor makes a pleasant sound for a 2-stroke, imo

  4. Hi

I plan on flying up a river valley with steep hills of about 800ft on both sides. The valley runs from South to North. Wind is expected to be SE 6 knots on the ground in the area, I don't know what the wind strength will be in the valley. I will fly low between 5 and 50 ft. How much turbulence should I expect if flying early morning?

  5. Hi Silvio

I still have to use 2 hands to start when the engine is on my back, but this does not bother me anymore. Don't spend hours messing around with settings like I did :-)

The only change I made that made pulling easier was moving the pulley to the right hand side, this makes the rope more inline with the hole in the assembly.

Another mistake I made when I first started was with the engine on my back keep trying when it does not want to start until I was so tired I had to pack up and go home. If it does not want to start after 6 pulls, put the engine on the ground, start it and let it run for a few minutes. Then try again with it on your back.

I now always start and run the engine on the ground before putting it on my back.

Don't worry after about 15 hours it gets easier to start, I can now always start my engine with less than 4 pulls, but I do have to use 2 hands.

I believe this is because the zenith pulley is too low on the frame, and/or does not swivel,.

This was pointed out by morgy an Paul b, but I foolishly did not believe them back then :-)

As a last resort you can start it on the ground, lift it up on a Cooler box or something that is about 50cm of the ground and then get in the harness while the engine is running, this is a bit dangerous, but at least you will not have to go home without flying.

  6. After 6 months the netting on my Zenith is wearing out, does anyone else have this problem? did you repair it or buy new netting? The soft rope that threads through the spars show the most wear.

I think I saw spare netting on the Parajet site but it was at a crazy price, 500usd or something like that.

  7. Hi

Thanks for the advise. I filled up with oil, ran it for 5 minutes and drained the oil, there was no obvious pieces of metal, but the oil was very dirty and there was a some milky white substance in the drained oil.

I flew for an hour with lots of takeoffs and climbs at full power, did not notice any loss in power or anythinging out of the ordinary.
