  1. Ideal thanks for the replies, how does it work as far as using the right wing? I'm guessing an official tandem wing is the way to go compared to just a larger with able to handle the weight as they're rated for tandem. Before I tried it I would seek further advice anyway from someone already doing it
  2. A willing pilot friend to play guinea pig? Haha
  3. Ah that's interesting, I haven't got the wing or sod all yet but I'm definitely going to consider it for the future now I know I have half a chance at making it airborne. Thanks for the heads up
  4. Is there a general rule about amount of power required to tandem? Obviously 2 big burley blokes will require more but my current set up is reportedly 65kg of thrust and I'm only coming in a 73kg clothed. In the future would it be possible to tandem if I limited it to someone a similar weight to myself?
  5. Let me know when as I've got an expensive paperweight in my garage at the moment ??
  6. Love the idea! About time we had something like this will definately use it
  7. Although not technically a conductor, everything regardless of makeup will conduct depending on the level of current/voltage it is exposed to. A pilot colliding with an overhead line could potentially get a shock depending on loading of the line and numerous other factors. Remember it only requires "milliamps" of current to flow for the human body to be massively effected (muscle contractions/ paralysis/death) and if the current flowing in the overhead system was say 300amps you don't stand much chance. -work in the electricity industry
  8. Looking like that might be my only choice was just trying to do it myself to make it affordable haha
  9. I've recently purchased a pro 100 headset though when it arrived the plug on was different to that which I needed. The headset is the type whereby the radio lead has the large 7 pin connector in the middle. The new lead I got from Eddie doesn't have the large connector on the end and is just bare wires. Does anybody know which wires on the lead I need to connect to the wires in the headset. I can then cut off the black plug from the old lead and wire up the new. Thanks.
  10. My engine is currently running too rich therefore burning too much fuel, I bought a cheapy inductive tachometer and fitted that however when fitted to my engine it reads way too high for what the engine is actually running at (i.e 6k on idle) it also fluctuates pretty wild too. I've since tried it on a Parajet engine and it seems to work fine with a steady reading. any suggestions as to what I can do? Manual says 3/4 litres an hour fuel consumption and I'm currently sitting at closer to 5/6. thanks.
  11. cool thanks for the advice I've got a rock climbing harness as I'm a keen climber so I'll use that for the time being until i find a proper one. I'm also gunna have a look and see if i can find someone who would be willing to show me how to do it
  12. cool thanks, will I need to use it with a harness straight away? I will get one eventually but can i use it without until i find one?
  13. Can i use a paragliding wing for ground handling for paramotoring? there are a few local to me for sale so if so might be worth a look
  14. cool will do thanks what info are you on about? training? if so i won't need to keep looking
  15. Will Hi! Sorry Only just seen your post I live in South brent - Malin & I have just atsrted up a local south devon club with a forum. There are a few of us about but as yet not really got going yet. However we will be having our first meet and fly in on Sunday 25th November (Venue TBC but probs the Turtley Mill Inn in Avonwick). Even better - contact Dan at Freshbreeze who is a PPG teacher (based in Exeter): http://freshbreezeuk.com/freshbreezeuk/Home.html Thanks I'll have a look at the link and see where that get's me. good to see there is a few around here for when i do start it up, seen a guy fly over my house a few weeks back so i know that some are lurking in the shadows haha. Won't be a while till i get sorted, what with christmas and first year car insurance coming up my bank is gunna take a massive hit, so I'm aiming to start training around jan/feb early next year
  16. I assume wooden ones would be cheaper then? also do the wings control similar to that of a powerkite? used to do a lot of that a few years ago and wouldn't have thought it would be all the different. I've also had a few goes on a parachute after skydiving, i can't imagine it being different from that as it's basically the same principles. can anyone offer any good areas to read up on? like the need to know things, the more i start to read now then hopefully when i come round to doing training I'll have a better understanding of what to expect and might pass through training quicker if that's possible
  17. Cool thanks, what sort of cost is a new prop? Also do you know of anywhere base me that offers training?
  18. I'm really keen on starting to learn paramotoring early next year, I've been wanting to learn to fly in one form or another for some time now and this appears to be the cheapest and lets face it one of the most fun! I live in Torbay and have seen quite a few people flying around before now, but was wondering is there anywhere local to me that offers training? Also from those of you who have been flying for a while what sort of costs should i be looking at? I've done some reading and it seems training should be around 1/1.5k? is that about right? what about running costs, I assume pretty cheap (varies depending on the engine i guess?) also what about maintenance costs? is there much in the way of this? any help would be great, thanks Will
