  1. Oil light came on when I went to fetch it (drove it home for 350 miles like that) ,previous owners did no kept to a service schedule .

Mixing of synthetically and mineral oil over 17 years (172000) miles blocked everything up.

    Replacement going in

  2. Hi Fuzzybabybunny

I would not say it is felt much more *** I'll  say rather different  *****  ( my mindset is different as well)

It is not more dangerous , it is probably more dangerous free flying  , where you actively search  for thermals  , where tugs on the wing is quite normal. ( I use them to tell me what the thermal is doing).

With my motor on I can only remember one frontall collaps where I was to far back over the  ridge , on the limit , soaring with the motor on idle **** if you touched the throttle  it did a full frontal collapse **** I yust let off , glided forward and when back on power.

I love setting  my motor on level flight   then go chase thermals  ( or some times seaching for some heat to warm me up )

  4. This is how I would answer it : In my freeflying harness  it feels like a glove that moves with me part of my body -- against the motor  witch is something I sit in ( although nice and tight , it ifeels external to me).

If you have ever been on a boom lift (Chery picker) ** They move , then you move ,when they stop , you stop after them  ,you are not part of it ,but yust on it. (I hate being up on one )

  5. I do not mind the thermic conditions  ,but love the smooth ride the motor give me in smooth conditions  .I take fllying with the motor differently as I set my throttle  to level flight and go chaseing thermals . I am very careful  with the motor  on as you can get in serious trouble very fast ( I had  a few scares where   the thrust to made the conditions better than it realy was )

I do find that when I fly the motor in thermic conditions  I fly with a completely different  mindset  (almost scared ) , I struggle  to stay in lift as I have the motor  to back me up .

I am starting loveing  freeflying  even more than motoring as it is a challenge against nature to stay up and any thermic conditions is my beast friend , however bad they are.

I am not even remotely  comfortable  flying in the same rough conditions  with a motor  on my back.

  6. I allways wear a helmet , was kiting when I yust started and having fun , got lifted off my feet about 4 feet , by a gust and got slammed on my side into the ground.

I hit my head so hard with that I was shaken up :: without my helmet on it would  have been a lot worse.9_9 Stay Safe

  7. I am no an expert either .

Yes you are probably right  ,it is smaller ,I had the trim set on the nill wind line , it was a red line with white lines as markers horizontal on the riser.

I did  use a lot as I was careful  not to let it happen again , I won't say more probably the same .

I kept the trim the same as I was not usually able to ge my R2 up with trimmers in - will retest that when I get my wing.

I can not stall my R2 without a wrap - used the same 1 wrap at landing and new what to expect - it did as I was used to.

My climb rate , with the small motor was faster than on the R2 again size - with my thor200  it is very fast on the R2

Wing loading /on the R2 and my old motor was about the same as the top 80 on the R3

    Happy to explain

  8. I ( lost a bit weight) ,was using a top 80, total weight was over 20 kg lighter than normal and foot launched .

I am used to fly the roadster 2  28 and tested the roadster 3 26 .

No wind take off suprise me with the wing comming up a lot easier  than I expected and over flew me front tuck  and I killed it , I reset   ,you have to use quite a bit of brake to slow it down and take off with. Climb out was a lot faster than what I am used to. ( I flew the 28 with the top 80 as well)

It control feels a lot tighter , turn a lot easier -like driving an old car after the whole steering  system has been replaced and upgraded

The speed with trims in or out  in reflex mode gave me around the same speeds as I am use to.

To me the lift and glide was identical ,felt the same ; with an easy positive climb  in a weak thermal.

I had no roll during my flight even when it got thermic ,

Doing some banked turns I could bank it very easy and it would come back horizontal with minimum input , to me rock solid .

It might be the changing to a smaller wing but I am happy with it's  handeling

    Hope this make sense

  9. Hi

As I understand  if you do thermals  with the motor switched off you want the propeller to be stationary  as a free spinning  propellor will create more drag.

I fly both types but prefer the clutched ,,the only issue I had was with  my cruising speed and clutch bite point very  close together  on low level beach flying.
