  1. Hello

I own a brand new Simonini Mini Evo 2. It should have come with a 2 blade helix prop. For some reason Helix let the dealer down and so it was arranged to have a hyfly 3 blade prop sent to me instead.

So..I cannot start the motor with the prop on. The motor starts just fine (for a second before I shut it down) without a prop. I put the prop on and the thing just turns over and over.

So I can conclude that all is working in terms of the motor itself.

It has a brand new YTZ 7S Yuasa 130CCA battery. The carb is clean.

So one major question - can the prop type/design have such a major effect on the ability of the motor to start? It just seems the starter cannot get quite enough turnover speed to kick off.

The earth from the starter motor did overheat at one point during my attempts to recharge another battery. Would that be a cause?

Thanks for any help at all

    Frustrated

    David

  2. Hello peolple..long time no see!

I have a 2 blade carbon HiFly prop (for a Simo Mini Evo2). It has been suggested to me that I really should put the bolts on with a torque wrench and find the torque from the makers (dodgy looking ukranian site???).

    Anyway

    1. Is this essential (never bothered with my old parajet props)?

    2. What torque do you use (anyone with a hilfly prop?)

    3. Is hand tight (with socket wrench) good enough?

    Thnaks!

  3. Had a look at previous discussions but they were over 3/4 years old so..

I have a brand new motor to break in. I have always used Motul 800 fully synth in the past (parajet & polini). However Simonini recommend semi only inj that it keeps for longer in the tank (mixed). I Will I be okay to stick with fully synth Motul or should I change to a semi? Recommendations? I understand Putoline is good?

    Cheers :)

  4. £3900 on skyads - £3800 for paramotorclub members!

A complete trike and/or PPG set for sale here. Reason for sale - I now fly microlight flexwings.

The trike is a trikebuggy bought new from the states. Rock steady stainless steel, perfect for the job. The whole thing fits into the back of a T5 transporter easily along with motor and all the kit. I take the back wheels off to make more room. It has easy A riser tug lines and I will put in the foot steering (in the air) lines aswell.

The wing is an Ozone Speedster 33m - bought from brand new, just 20 hours on it, easy take off and landing, takes the weight oh so easily and cruise at bottom rate fuel consumption. Land as light as a feather.

The motor is a parajet Vol2 Minari ES with 125 carbon prop, around 50 hours, electric and pull start. starts easy never any worries. Plenty power - I weigh 95 kgs bare.

There is a standard harness attached which I have used only twice. Standard parajet harness.

I also have a PPG rated 20m ITV Awak2 bought from new for sale at £1500.

This is a steal. All items are in immaculate order.

Comes with FREE LK8000 GPS unit!

  6. I just wanted to ask my brethren (sorry watching too much GoT recently)...

I have been out the game for a while but very much back in. Keen to fly when I can. So, usual story, Monday has looked good for some time now (I'm in South Devon where 9 days out of 10 are windy). Slowly as the day arrived the wind forcast picks up. Now I'm talking about arriving at the field at 6am for a 6.30 to 7am take off. Thing is the focast stands at 15mph in a perfect direction. It is due to increase slight over the hour. I only want an hour at most..happy with half an hour.

Anyway as we all the know most days start dead calm despite the wind forecast.

How many of you use that early morning calm despite wind forecasts or is it too risky? Main thing being the landing in wind I guess.

  7. If anyone is interested i have my Ozone Speedster 33 ( never come down uber efficient easy launch) wing for sale at just £2000 plus postage. Bought from new with just 10 hours on it. Also my Paratrike from TrikeBuggy USA is for sale at the same price £2000. Stainless steel beauty..readdy rigged up. This is collect only (Exeter, Devon). See if i can dig up some pics.

  8. Hi everyone

Just a query on the relationship between size of wing vs fuel efficiency. Assuming all things are equal(motor/carb setting/pilot weight/overall flying pattern)..would a larger wing mean more fuel efficiency? I currently fly a 26m wing (assume for sake argument we are talking about same manufacturer but larger..say 29m) or does drag come into it? Is the relationship between lift vs thrust important? I understand that a wings profile can be changed eg reflex but this is about size (or max lift minimum revs)...I do not need to get anywhere fast..

Also is there a type of wing out there that helps with fuel efficiency (I would assume acro wings are not very fuel effifient eg).

    Thanks

    :D:wingover:

  9. I've been looking into this aspect. I'm happy enough with the theory but then that's always the easy part doing it is a different matter.

When not active flying ie brakes clipped just how much will a reflex wing take and sort out itself with regards to bumps and small thermals.

key question - at what point do you come off full reflex and start actively flying and does active flying mean you need to be on full slow and brakes or could you be on neutral and brakes? (PS I PG also so I know what active flying is..just have not done it on a PPG before)
