  1. Hi

Could anyone who knows give advice for storing a motor for the medium to long term. I may not have to do it as I am selling this motor. But if it doesn't sell then Im going to wrap it up carefully and store it. What do i have to do to the motor to keep it in superb nick?

    The obvious:

    Empty fuel tank

    Take out the spark plug?

    Oil?

    Disconnect anything?

    Thanks for your help.

    David

  2. one thing that may be relevant here - works on speedwings (13m) in nil wind - if you have started your swoop too high OR you are running out of room = hands Up! this will get you lower quick, puts energy back into the wing. I had to land recently on my arse as I was approaching a forest of trees after coming in on a totally blind landing in Lauterbrunnen couple weeks ago..very fast...hands up put me down on the deck.

  3. okay simon - thanks

put a load of information on, couldn't load up a picture gallery so I direct linked a few photos on the detail box. Pressed all the buttons..

Ill not try again but thanks for your help everyone.

  4. I was having a few problems with my nil wind landings on my Revo2. Eventually sussed it out.

If you land with trims fully in (slowest flight), you don't have much margin for error as you will not have an awful lot of energy to play with. I was finding that my landings were really heavy, because I was flaring just a little too soon.

Once, by accident, I came in with neutral trims, nil wind. I approached like a bullet, shit myself, but found that, similar to your speedwing approach, you use about a quarter brakes to level off, then as your speed bleeds off, you still have plenty of energy to slow you down whilst keeping you flying.

This landing was just short of neutral trims. Notice how I still have lots of energy when I finally fully flare:

As you say, have a play when you get your wing.

brilliant guys - thanks alot - saves me a trial and error period!

ref vid - beautiful landing well demonstrated

  5. Of course Stevie, reflex wings at fast trim don't work well with brakes do they? So I guess it's a matter of trimming a tad faster than normal landing trim....or slower

Hell, I just need to get the wing and have a play :D

  6. Full trim on for landing in zero wind conditions...

I tend to flare a bit higher too, and somtimes slid my feet along the ground before starting the decelleration run...

 Thanks erm..full trim on you mean full speed right?

  7. nice fast response - thanks guys. yup will get the ones on ebay, probs a bit wide but as you suggested, a bit of neoprene and tape.

I thought the video may be a problem but I also like to set the gopro to 30 second pictures..hope to get some great shots :D

Thats a great vid - yes, weird effects but still perfectly watchable - needs to be pointed down a bit, but lovely sky and sunset, music was perfect 8)

  8. Hi

Currently using a PG wing and the last couple landings in total nil wind have been a bit hard on the legs. Now, Im used to swooping with my speedwings but they all have trims and to land you trim out (faster) and I turn in steep to land to get energy and then swoop along the ground, slowing down then land.

So, forget the PG wing which obviously has no buckle trim and comes down like a brick in nil wind..I am to receive my new Revo2 in the next few days :D

But I still would like to ask you more experienced peeps - whats your nil wind landing technique? How much trim speed do you put on? etc etc

    Huge thanks

    David

  9. I have attached a go pro mount to the top of my frame with some strapping and alot of duct tape. It is very secure BUT obviously a proper bolted clip would be far preferable. Anyone have any ideas where I could get one - do go pro do such mounts? I guess they must do for bikes? or is there an easier way?

    Thanks

  10. aaaaaarrrrggghh!!

Both would be good but interested to hear any opinions on here.

I am 96kgs bare, 110kg all up PG and I reckon 140kg with motor/reserve etc etc

I am new to paramotoring coming from speedflying and some PG.

So, smaller = faster, quicker in the turn? firmer but uses more fuel..?

Bigger = better soaring if I use it for PG? (I do want to sell my current pg and use this one for coastal soaring)..more fuel efficient...is it slower necessarily?...slightly more prone in turbulent air?

My flying style will probs tend to be lower altitude contouring rather than high long straight high distance flights (but obviously will do both at some stage)

Getting good advice from Dan at Freshbreeze but also interested in opinion on here too.. :D

    Thanks

    David

  11. Hey dan

The Zion is one awesome wing! Very easy groundhandling, just have to be. Quick with the brakes to stop it overflying as it come up so easy.

It's twitchy alright (in 20mph) but once your used to it, she flies superbly, very direct, predictable and stable but fast enough too!

Fly in zero to 20mph laminar.

I come from a Speedfly background so she feels big compared to my 13m spit.

The trims have been fine for me but some have found them to slip if you do any acro style stuff.

I'll defo be strapping a motor on with it and see how she goes. :)
