  1. Thanks Simon The engine has not got a power problem and has no problem with my lump but with trims out it is working hard. Saying that though i used to fly with full trims open and had no problems with engine. But as this was pushing the engine i started to fly at half trim so engine would not have to work so hard. After fitting temp sensors i realised that the throttle level required for half trim is actually the level the engine runs at the highest exaust temp. So my theory is that without the air dam enough air does not pass across the head add to this that i was cruising at a throttle level that produced the highest gas temp and i would have been doing this for long periods of time as much as 30mins. To be honest i do not know why but the above seems to fit. One thing that i am sure is a problem is air flow as the air dam reduced head hemp by 40deg. Also there is no clear air inlet as my shoulder and harness are about 6 inches in front of the engine fins. I am not a aerodynamic expert but air behind a flat backed object passing through the air tends to be slow moving. Bit like tailgating a lorry. Anyway it does seem like the air dam has done the job. I guess time will tell.
  2. I have had a Moster for five years. It is a bit like triggers broom. There is not much of the original one left. First i had a cracked exhausted. Then con rod broke causing major damage. Which was due to overheating but the plug looked good and i found no problems with the carb. After about 4 hours after fitting a new engine it overheated again. This time metal got in the plug so stopping the engine and preventing major damage (only a piston). I did find dirt in the carb this time that was the likely cause. As i was concerned about overheating i fitted a temp gauge and found when climbing it was running over the 250deg that Vittorazi state is the maximum. And even when cruising it was around 240deg. The plug suggests that the mixture was correct or even a bit rich. I then fitted the air dam on top of the head. This dropped the temperature by an average of 40deg. I now have more confidence in the motor. Not sure why it suffers from running hot maybe it is somthing to do with my 18stone lump. Or could it be that in some paramotors when the engine is mounted tight behind you the head is not getting the required air flow? Be intersted to hear if others have had similar problems.
  3. Hi Dave I have the Bulldog Moster with side mounted reserve. Fits fine. It ideal on the side. Does not get it the way and easy to reach. Never had to pull it yet so can't say if it works ok but motor has been back to Clive at Bulldog in the past and he has never said i should move it. Russell
  4. That sounds a great site. Must be on the edge of the Quantocks. Is that you i seen last night with 2 others flying back from coast towards Taunton? Was out for the day with the missus and unfortunately did not have my paramotor with me. Was watching wishing i was flying!!
  5. May be able to sort somthing near ilminster. Depending on time of year but normally one of the fields on the estate i fly from is usable. Lots of stubble fields at the moment. I do not like to hang around and make too much noise over the locals. Evey time i fly i put a tenner in the estates charity pot so i am sure you did the same they would be happy to let you fly. What is the record attempt? Let me know if you want me to ask. Russell.
  6. Hi all I have just replaced the piston and barrel on my second engine due to overheating. My first engine completely distroyed itself due to overheating and this one only had about 20 hours use. The first one i could not find a reason but this time i found fluff on the mesh inside the pump on the carb. As this is the second overheating problem i have also fitted CHT and EGT sensors. During the running in cycle on the ground i am getting EGT from 550 deg at 4000rpm to 630 deg at 8000 rpm. Vittorazi state that EGT should be 550 deg. I have checked the plug and it is slightly blacker than ideal suggesting it is slightly rich. The CHT has not exceeded 220 deg but i have only run for 15mins at a time with only 60sec at full throttle. The engine picks up well an seems to run ok. Has anyone got CHT and EGT sensor's fitted on a Moster and if so what temperature readings do you get at different rpm. Any advice or comments apprecated as i do not want to damage another engine. Thanks Russell
  7. Yes please lets see all those pics for all of us uncool people who do not know how to use face box or whatever you call it! Ps... still picking wheat out of my pants and wing!!!
  8. Hi Tom Try Premier Power Product. Think there is one in Yeovil. They are a specialist supplier of belts & pulleys etc
  9. Hi Pianoman I also have Bulldog with a synth34 with similar weights and had the same problem in my first year or so. Had plenty of dirty knees & slid on my ars with most landings. Tried lots of things & could not sort it. I eventually set trims on 2 for landing giving more speed to help the flare. This worked well & made landing on feet easy. This gave me a better feel of the wing & now have few problems landing with trims at 0 Quite often I flare & can go back up so there is plenty of travel in the brakes. Not completely sure what I am doing different but I think just leaving any brake until nearly touching so there is speed for the flare. Russell
  10. HI Tom I am near Ilminster & it would be good to have someone local to fly with. I would like to get in plenty of flying this year as last year was a bit crap with the weather & as I am fairly new to the sport & need the practice. Russell
