  1. From a recent visit to the Vittorazi Factory, we were given the following settings for the Moster Engines.

Vittorazi Moster Plus with a 13 rib Optibelt - 430-450Hz no lower than 370Hz and 500Hz would be very bad!

Vittorazi Moster Classic and Silent with a Gates 15 rib belt 450-470Hz plus or minus 60/70

A good iPhone app is Tension2Go, seems to work pretty well.

I recently fitted a new belt to my Moster using the weight method and then checked the frequency with the app. It was pretty accurate but do the check a few times.

    Chilly.

  2. Certainly in the school we only use wood.

Yes the new ones are lighter and cheaper and less dangerous if they break.

Carbon easier to transport as they split and are shorter, but otherwise I Prefer the new wood laminate props.

Again its down the individual prop. There are bad and good ones wood and carbon. Use the one recommend by your manufacturer as they wouldnhave tested loads!

  3. I owned a 1250 top 80 for many years circa over 800 hours on it.

Firstly on a low hang point machine, you will not want the prop anywhere upright in a static hang test. If you do this, when you are under power the top pf the cage will be pushing on your risers and you won't get into the seat.

You will need a 25-30 degree hang back at static, so when under power flying level, the prop will be close to upright.

The holes in the arms are a guide, when I was around 70kg I was flying in the second or third hole from the back.

    Hope this helps.

  4. 16mm hoop is an upgrade meant for tandem. The narrow profile hoop is lighter.

Both have pros and cons. The narrow hoop saves weight right where it's needed at the point furthest from the pilot.

The 16mm hoop is 300grams more making the paramotor 19.3kg. A begligible difference I admit and only arguably stronger.

The 16mm hoop comes on the polished frames, 12mm narrow profile comes on the White frames.

Both designs can be power launched, all thought I don't full power launch with the nitro. 1/4 throttle is enough to get you moving, building rpm as I run.

I saw a gentle power launch on one in las candelas and the cage flexed so much the netting was caught by the prop. On a subsequent flight both the bottom plastic spigots broke on the cage which could have been nasty.

The Nitro engine has both the low and high jets sealed on the carb. The engine I saw seemed to be running very lean with a white plug and smelled very hot with no adjustment the owner could have done without voiding warranty. The throttle pick up was bad and lead to a few failed launches due to this.

  5. Hi Dave,

Side mount is no problem with a suitable container. Whatever position you choose, it is very important that it is installed correctly with the correct length Y bridle and the routing does not interfere with any future deployment.

Mine is side mount on the left, but I do think front mount is the best place for all of them. Some people find that it bangs against your legs when launching, so I usually advise to clip it up higher for launch then once airborne re-position it. I went side mount only due to competition flying where a map board needed to be on my lap etc.

Be careful of fitting top mounted reserves as there are some situations that would make it very hard to deploy with G forces making your arms very heavy to lift above your head. Also ensure, if you do go for this option that you have a double handle (like Micky mouse ears) so you can deploy either hand.

Your local Bulldog dealer will be able to help and advise on this and other Bulldog related questions and do a proper hang test and check your set up to ensure you're getting the very best out of it.

The Bulldog is very easy and quick to assemble, (probably the most easiest) so don't know why you find it fiddly? it takes just a few minutes to put together unlike 20-30 minutes some other set ups take. Again if you're finding things tricky, then your local Bulldog dealer will be able to offer advice and help.

If you have any pictures of your set up, post them up so we can help.

    Best regards, Chilly

  6. Its getting late and I have to sleep but very quickly, the Nucleon XX (from my point of view) is like a blending of the Plasma and the Nucleon, but better!

Slower than the WRC size for size, but you'd go down in size anyway for the correct weight range. I flew a 29 WRC, but now fly a 24 XX with better glide, and about the same speed as the 29 WRC.

Very agile, especially on full fast trim with the light touch tip steering.

Launches very easy on full slow, as you'd expect.

The sharknose profile makes the whole wing feel more pressurised and solid.

I'd look to be in the middle of the weight range for good economy or nearer the heavy end for more speed.

I think this will PG very nicely too.

    ok gotta go ZZZzzzz

  8. Some risers have two hook in points, and or special torque adjuster lines such as the Dudek range of wings.

Both Low and high hang points will experience torque, it depends upon the individual set up as to how bad it is.

Try putting your reserve on the opposite side of the torque as this also helps.

If your harness has a torque strap, use it.

  9. Just to re-remind all of you that this year things are a little different to encourage more participants at all levels. Comps can be a lot of fun, and make you a better pilot.

My first comp was in 2006 as a complete newbie. I went on to join the British Team, learned absolutely loads and helped bring home Silver and Bronze medals. It made me a better pilot and I never looked back.

This year among the sponsors is our very own "Paramotor Club" so it would be fantastic to see many of you come along.

So back to this year....here is an excerpt from the PPGCOMPS website, more info on http://www.ppgcomps.co.uk/index.php/201 ... nd-details

    When and where?

30 May to 3 June 2015 in West Mersea, Essex, CO5 8SP, home to the Footflight Paramotors flying school.

    A new format for 2015?

    - There will only be one event, the 2015 British Open, with no other minor League events.

    - It will be a 5-day event, starting on Saturday 30 May 2015, with the Wednesday as a reserve day in the event of bad weather, and for British Team training and selection.

    - The first briefing with be early morning on the Saturday.

    - There will be two distinct groups: the Open group and the Discovery group.

    - The Open group is the normal group as we have now, UK pilots and foreign guests trying to win the Open trophy, and with the British National title being awarded to the highest placed UK pilot.

    - The new Discovery group is for people who may want to have a go at competing without feeling pressured or intimidated in any way.

    - No overall scoring for this new Discovery group that anyone can join at any time throughout the event. Separate easy tasks. GPS allowed. No 6am start. Several tasks will be ready made that can be briefed as required and flown any time throughout the event.

    - Anyone with insurance can participate and join the Discovery group at anytime throughout the event.

    - There will be a different Task director(s) for the Discovery Group.

    - British Team pilots will be on hand to give lectures on various topics, especially when not flyable. Constructive debriefings from task winners in the Open group will also be encouraged.

    - Free flying will be accommodated as much as possible at the Open, and hopefully most people would join the fun in the Discovery Group.

    - Camping on-site with usual facilities and comprehensive catering options

    Why the new format?

    - The Committee is keen to increase participation following several years of declining numbers.

    - We are hoping that the Discovery Group will be more like a Rally or a Fly-in, with a very relaxed ambiance with a view to be more inclusive and hassle-free.

    - The advantage of running the two groups in parallel is to offer a great spectacle for all, with some of the world's best pilots coming over to fight for the Open trophy in the area where the next World Championship will take place, in August 2016.

    - The best way to recruit talent at grass root level is to encourage British Team members to give something back, through lectures, debriefing and practical sessions.

    - With more numbers expected to participate, more traders will be attracted to come and exhibit their products, especially as we are very keen to allow free flying.
