  1. First off, glad to hear you was injured in any way!

Now to some more serious points...

Why was this motor handed straight over to you, the customer, without being run up and checked by the seller?

Why did YOU not check the correct closing of the throttle in your preflight checks?

Were you not instructed on how to 'emergency' stop the motor using choke, primer bulb (if fitted) to flood the engine?

The main point though, glad you came out wiser...... :acro:

  2. Just had a chat to Tara at MSR about the Koso G2 Revolution.

Not held in stock, even their supplier has about a 1 week lead time. CHT lead is £19.95 extra.

She was a bit vauge about the term Cylinder Head Temp gauge?

Christ, how hard can this be..............

So far I have looked at:

    Trail Tech - Pap TTO

    GP4 Crono - Polini DRS

Koso G2 Revolution - Moore Speed Racing

  3. Is it achieving max RPM?

    Is it 4-stroking?

Best way to do a plug chop is with a new plug Phil!

The best indicator is the 'smoke ring' at the base of the ceramic insulator.

To get a proper visual on this involves cutting down the side of the plug thread with a hacksaw to remove a section of metal.

The list goes on and on for this procedure - just get an AFR meter!!

Have a look on the net for plenty of plug chop ideas.......

There will be loads of opinions!

    How about a Bailey????

  4. Nice find Dan.

I did not think Koso made such a gauge!

I may give them a ring tomorrow and price up the 'extras'.

AFR would be funky, but the sensors do not last long with 2 strokes!!

  5. Anyone got a link to a good (well made) Rpm and Cht combined gauge unit.

Just returned my Brauniger IQ motor + unit and so now need a seperate item.

About the best unit I came across so far is the Polini DRS system.

    http://www.polini.com/en/page_547.html

But it is a meagre 165 Euro's PLUS 20% Vat!! About 199 Euro all in....

There seem to be lots of RPM units out there, but not many combined??

    Any ideas good folks?...

  6. TBH Phil, If I had built that myself, I'd be proud!

But, the wire connections without some serious sealed heatshrink will break in no time at all.

There was quite a big discussion on the Yahoo group about measuring fuel accurately for these small motors. The flow rate is not enough to work well with 'cheaper' flow meters.

To measure the kind of flow rates we experience accurately would require a rather expensive piece of kit. And that would push the end unit price way higher than £99!!

Why not just use the mirror on the cord trick?
