  1. There's a possiblitity of a Paul and a Steve to add to that too.

I'm the one you all need to steer clear of though, shall be attempting only my 4th flight and hoping to get my first 'stay on feet' landing too, yikes, still scares the hell outa me, I understand there is plenty of room in the field hence my reason for attending! :D

  2. Not really a comprehensive reply but I'm pretty sure HD won't go to DVD, end of story. HD is the latest format that outdates DVD so therefore you'll only be able to copy it to HD DVD (now being discontinued) or to Blu Ray so you'll need a new burner if you wish to copy it and keep HD.

In effect what you are trying to do is like playing a tape cassette in a CD player!

You'll probably be able to download a program that will convert the files from HD to another format for further transferral onto DVD but all editing (I think) will need to be done prior to converting!

Hoping someone will back me up on this! :D

  3. can't make it to the nats as i'll be on holiday for the first 2 days of it and then overloaded with stuff to do, shame but i'm sure we'll get together shortly perhaps at standish again although i fancy a few more take offs and landings on a bigger field before going there again, got a couple to test this week so will keep you informed!

    cheers

  4. What an awesome day and a great bunch of blokes, not least Pete B who shares his wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm as well as provides a lounge to sit and watch the grand prix whilst waiting for the thermals to clear!

Good to get my first flight in British airspace last night even if the take off was a little (ok a lot!) dodgy, I had my best landing to date, still never stayed on 2 feet but a kind of slow motion glide through the long grass and a gentle drop on the arse, that'll do me!

I was able to actually relax and enjoy the view on the flight itself and felt more in control of the beast than I had on my previous 2 flights. All the way home I had this urge to smile broadly, I guess that means the bug has bitten. :D

The new motor performed beautifully by the way, very smooth power and comfortable seat!

Hope to get up again this week!

  5. Not sure if any of you guys on here know about the Stonehouse field but I met the chaps up there today, all very well organised and a perfect launch field, no neighbours, no major obstructions and some stunning scenery within 10 minutes of launch.

Should be flyable tomorrow and folk will be turning up there from 11am onwards, i shall be running in and hopefully flying my new baby!

A tiny village called Standish, just off the B4008. Call me if interested. 07894 707965

I believe there is a small charge as the organiser pays the farmer a yearly fee, only a fiver though I think.

  6. Been here a while but had only done a bit of training and a single flight, now done a bit more training and just one more flight (hurt my back ground handling so that was all I could manage!) and have bought myself some new kit to continue.

So, anybody in my area South Glos, North Wilts or North Somerset that wants to get together then please keep me in mind.

I'm based in Chipping Sodbury but my office is in Edington, Wiltshire right under the shadow of Westbury White Horse (I'm aware thats populated by Paragliders, but there's beautiful surrounding nearby and out of their way!

I have a few farmer friends so plenty of launch fields available, just need to check they are suitable!

    Cheers

  7. As another newbie chipping in, I read most of Paramotoring From The Ground Up whilst on my course but have since bought the PPG Bible and would say the latter is a bit better, but what the hell you could always buy both!

  8. Having had all those vans in the past both new and secondhand I'll never buy another van again unless it has a VW badge on it. Mercs are good but damned expensive when they go wrong, VW rarely go wrong.

In saying that, if you want a smaller van, Toyota are bloody good too!

I've had an old Volkswagen Transporter for 12 months, its a 99, I've put 15k on it and it hasn't missed a beat.

It's for sale too :D but it doubles as a wheelchair bus with a big ramp and a winch!

  9. Nice to meet you Simon, would have chatted longer but you appeared to be doing well with enquiries so I let you get on with it!

Nice show but I begrudge paying (and for the Mrs who was bored shitless after 5 minutes and buggered off shopping) to look at things that people want to sell me, always winds me up hat does but it certainly isn't unique to this show!

    Roll on the spring!
