  1. Hello all

    My thor 100 is about 6 years old. Recently I have noticed the prop always spins, Now runs like belt paramotor :), Motor runs fine and i have adjusted idle speed but the prop still spins regardless of the level of the idle.

    The motor has clock up a decent amount of hours. Could it be time to replace the clutch pads. Any thoughts ??

     

  2. Both are good engines, We have all been there at some stage, I didnt have clue what to look for when I bought my first motor, Bailey's engine are little of the heavy side for me but are meant to be rock solid, I have a polini thor 100 and yes its had a few issues but all motors do!

    Whats your budget? whats type of flying do you intent to do. For me I would not prefer a light weight motor with a good local support agent who can get parts near by ie Parajet, custom air etc

  3. Buy a non flash starter as a back up, problem solved. Bolt slots are the same.

    The last two times I found a broken spring were after landing and preparing to launch again, when I went to pull the cord no resistance was there. But it managed to start it the first time. Very disappointing in prime flying weather!

    Have got a couple of new springs on the way in which have some improvements.

    Will be great to sort the pull starter issues out as I think Thor 130 so far has been a awesome engine.

    Do bother with polini's rebranded Briggs and Stratton Starter Recoil

    Get a GENUINE Briggs & Stratton like this one:

    Exact same as the polini one, most lawnmower places can source one. I got one in an hour of looking for one.

    Don't be tempted to buy non original, I can confirm there are shite and made of Swiss cheese !!!!

    Now if I can get someone to answer about adjusting the thor100 clutch..

    A few back my reed valve stuffed itself (having too much fun)

    Mine of course stuffed itself when Mr Polini went on there summer lonnnnnnnng holiday and also wanted mega money for the complete reed valve.. But Mr polini its only the carbon petals which are broke :(

    No you must buy the complete reed valve..

  6. What he said, I can swap mine out in about 30 min but I have it down to down to fine art.

    I usually remove the top two engine mounts to allow for for the removal of the flash starter. I usually lay the engine on the ground or on a table when I remove the starter.

    If unsure get a mate who knows there way around two strokes to give you a hand.

  7. The combination of the thor 100 + flash starter = going to have problems

    Have not heard much many of the thor 130 having any issues with the flash starter.

    Best thing i ever did was swap out the flash starter for stock standard starter, works every time and don't have the fear now that the flash starter will unwind mid flight.

    Q: A 115cm prop, along with a HE125 motor. Will there be enough weeabix to get airborne with me at 75kg plus fusion 23m.

    I usually fly a polini thor 100 with 125cm and thats no problems at all.

  9. High hang system vs low hang system

    This has probably being asked before about the whole high hang point vs low set ups.

    I am looking for a second motor, I have always flown low (6 years) hang systems.

    There is a bulldog and RS kangol for sale which could be potentials.

    Who flies both systems out there? Whats does it feel like flying an high hang point system.

    Pete think you could be right, the bottom strap is attached to the lower part of the frame, It can move around (not sure it should)

    Now where I think it needs adjusting is the side straps (see pic) as you will see they are not tight! should they be?

    I have taken the harness off the top bar to show you the straps.

    Is there anyone else out there with a Sup Air Harness, would be good to know how they have theres set up.

    Would I be right in saying the harness should not be able to move / slide when its attached to the frame?

  11. Hello from sunny Australia..

    Guys my motor which I have had for the last 3 years (thor 100 / PXP frame) on take off the the unit torque's massively..

    I will let the pic tell the story..

    Take note of the fuel in the tank.

    OK so its being like this from day one, never had any issue's with it..

    I know most motors have some torque effect on take off, just mine seems to be excessive.

    Any suggestions on ways of dealing with the torque effect.
